Dear Friends and all - a friend of ours in Oregon has been made an offer for one of her late husband's guns - a Romanian AK-clone plus three mags and a Leaper's scope in excellent condition - like new really, since I'm the only one who ever shot it.

Apart from checking on the prospective buyer's ID/driving license, and have the deal done in the presence of other people, namely her hulking big son, is there anything else she needs to know about making the deal happen?

TIA.

If the sale is happening in Oregon, then it needs to happen at an FFL for the transfer to be legal. Generally the purchaser and the seller meet at an FFL to conduct the private party transfer of the firearm. FFL dealer transfers possession of the gun from the seller to the buyer and conducts background check on the buyer.

Hope this helps!

I don't know what area she's in, but Oregon rifle works will do it for $35. They're in Tigard and that shop is filled with great guys n gals.
