If we were in Russia's position we'd be doing the same thing, Obama's gonna grandstand for a week and then shut up. Putin's old school KGB, hell he even was tutored by Markus Wolf, he knows what he's doing.

I'll bet if Putin where to sit down with J Kerry, who as you know served in Viet Nam; Kerry would agree to let him have a base or two in the USA. After all when the emperor gets done we won't need them.

Gunfixx, so as a somewhat insider on the Ukraine from what I can tell they are sort of like what the Confederacy was in America, Correct? Each State is basically it's own entity with a unified government only for dealing with international issues? Crimea is considered it's own republic from what I have read and they seem to be fully supportive/aligned with Russia.

Don't believe what is happening isn't meant to break the will of the people protesting. Russia is playing the common hand of government, to change the direction of the protesters, from wanting freedom to becoming patriots to the Ukrainian government. Governments around the world would rather see all people show allegiance to any government rather than no government. Hopefully many of the Ukrainian people that want freedom fight against both the Russian and Ukrainian governments when they give the ultimatum of conscript to the ukrainian government, or be killed by the russian government. Hopefully those that want freedom, dont let their sons & fathers fight or die for either governments purposes.

This is similar to what Britain did, when one of their colony's wanted freedom back in the 1700's.

This comment was made by the Ukrainian government to the protesters. "It was no longer the time for people to take an individual stand, as they had in the past weeks, but support the government."

Government is on its own side. The government from any country in the world would rather see you bear allegiance towards a government, above your family or yourself.

Patriotism attempts to blind freedom. It was done out in the open with the patriot act.

Yes indeed. What is going on over there will benefit Moscow AND D.C.. The game goes on.

"So the Cycle of War turns up BECAUSE of a cascade of many things and the least of which is not to be overlooked. Governments are in trouble and that includes Russia where its economy is turning down. Both sides need a war to distract the stupid majority who really think this is over apple pie and capitalism. It is the diversion that becomes necessary for politics to survive. Humanity – well I have never seen a government mourn its fallen soldiers. It is always just a show."

You will be able to tell when the US needs to make a critical decision about the situation.
The emperor will go to play golf so he won't be involved . . .

We've also got the issue of the U.S. Navy frigate, USS Taylor stuck in Turkey. They're not releasing the damage assessment but it doesn't sound good. No status update for the last 2 weeks except the CO being relieved of duty. A damaged screw could take quite some time to replace, and that's with a friendly dry dock facility available.

Seems foolish to leave her stranded in the Black Sea with saber rattling going on.
