No, doobee is right. April 15 is socialist. If we pass these new taxes (65 and 66 for those of us in Oregon), it will be communist. I hover right around the poverty level and still think its ridiculous to tax people a higher percentage of their income just because they've been successful. Lets see, take from the rich give to the government. Yep, communism.

Now on point, maybe they won't bubblegum it up too much. There is the occasional good thing that comes out on the silver screen. The original movie is a classic. I think I'll judge the new one on its own merits, as expecting it to live up to the original might be asking too much.

So in the new movie it will be a chinese-russian invasion based in Spokane, WA but will be filmed in Michigan.
It sounds like their are following the script pretty closely, only the new one will be based in present time with subtle changes.
We'll see it's hard to make a movie that was so great into a new film. It will either too closely resemble the original, or be completely hokey. Either way I will be in the theater opening night.

That's not communism, its called progressive taxation, which is very different. Communism means the government owns all the means of production--every factory, every farm, all large capital goods. Progressive taxation means there are different rates of taxation as you go higher up the ladder. We should call things what they actually are.

Our taxation is so messed up right now that Warren Buffet's secretary pays MORE of a percentage of her income than he does. How is this possible? Capital gains tax rates (income from sales of stocks, profits on real estate sales, dividends) is taxed at a 15% rate. Rich people get a LOT of their income from these sources. Income tax (income from your paycheck) goes up to 38%. Is this a good idea? I don't think so. Money made from wealth should be taxed at the same rate as money made from busting your butt at the 9-5 (or ,more likely the 7-5 nowadays).

Yeah, I took college economics too. I understand the differences in economic/government systems. I believe my point is that the government is trying to move that direction. Every year they take more and more away from the people and put it into the government coffers. More and more government control.

Back on point, I'm hoping the movie will do well. Although Hollywood's recent track record has been to butcher movies, so we'll see.

Oh, and I loved the original and hope they don't screw up the remake.
