It follows all the way down the ballot with a lot of people who should know better and its sad to watch. Last couple races for Governor here we saw the same thing. Both times we had a FAR better choice who a LOT of gun owners set out to smear at every chance they had. Saying they were not good enough. Great, hope they enjoy what they got instead

The difference is the sports teams don't have the ability to change my life. Law makers do. One of the famous excuses used by many gun owners is "I am not a single issue voter". This translates to "I vote for the people who are hosing us". EVERY anti gun law makers is also anti rights. If they have a problem with people owning guns they ALWAYS have a problem with people being able to make their own choices.
I think most gun rights supporters who don't like Trump have fallen for media propaganda. Ive struggled with this but have changed my mind. After Trumps 1st administration I swore I wouldn't vote for him but at the same time I started "fact checking" the claims of racism and fascism and not only are they not there they are lies. The media called him racist over "very fine people" speech was was a literal fabricated lie, even the biased fact checkers had to own up to that (funny how they waited years after to do so). They lied about him saying he wanted to be a dictator because he joked on day 1 he was going to close the border. J6 protests was an "insurrection". When the media is actively falsely smearing political candidates the countries in trouble. Every election it comes down to a choice of 2 who can win. One will always be better. NONE will ever be perfect. If we could get gun owners to vote for the better one each time we could slowly get better and better people. Instead what we get is the worst one of the two. The voters using the I am not a single issue voter excuse are voting for the worst one and making excuses for why they do so.
I agree that nobody is perfect, but the problem with this is its not an excuse in itself to vote for candidates that actively campaign to remove their gun rights. I fully understand not everyone likes Trump, Republicans etc. but if someone has other topics they feel are more important than gun rights then they should stop claiming they support gun rights. Tell us they like shooting owning guns, fine and respectable but don't tell us they support gun rights if they vote for candidates that want to ban owning guns and ban carrying guns.
I agree with voting for the lesser of two evils when it comes to gun freedoms. I also think it is OK to criticize the person you vote for.
Abolishing the ATF does nothing. Everything they do just gets transferred to the FBI, who don't have a stellar reputation in refraining from constitutional infringements either.
I think that Oregon and Washington would be the low hanging fruit compared to states California, New York, and Illinois and might be the best places to start. Maybe reach out to Washington Gun Law because he probably already has that info and likely plugged in to what the DOJ is doing. This is the time for all of us to band together and act.
Of course it is. I LOVE the way Trump is doing things. Does NOT mean I would want the man to marry some family member of mine. The criticism is only a problem when people who have a choice of 2 use the excuse of the better one not being good enough to get their vote. So they end up supporting the worst one, who of course wins. Then those who voted for the worst one, by not voting, say "see I told you so".
It is bizarre to watch them justify this to themselves.
