Years ago the wife and I decided to visit the covered bridges of the Willamette Valley as an anniversary trip. Learned to ride motorcycles and rented a couple of Harley's to pull it off.
Good memories.
 
I grew up in the shadow of a few of them, some gone now, some moved, and others still in place! Good times, we would jump off one of them at our favorit swimming hole and some days even a bit of trout fishing was done! Good times, and a lot of find memories:)
 
Wood bridges rot wood bridges with a roof over them rot MUCH slower.

I can walk to Gallon House Bridge near Silverton from my house in about 1/2 hour.
