Been a member 30 years and I can categorically state that I have never won a single pair of Earplugs.

I still love 'em, tho'.

Use "NRA selling assets" as a search term and news items come up in multiple links. Not sure why the original source does not come up.

Rolling Stone
Daily Beast
The Reload
SASS Wire Forum are all carrying the story.

Indeed, not just manly things like Hot Hods, Guns & Ammo, American Rifleman, Outdoors, Popular Mechanics/Science, or National Geographic... But also the porn, pinups, the women's lifestyle rags, and hopefully also the tabloids

The era of page-welding will soon be over for you little master debating pervs!

Hmmm.....
While I understand the comment about "beggar mail"....
I am a life member...and do not , at age 56 , consider myself "old people"...or having "old ideas".

That said...
I am no fan of Wayne La Pierre ...or the way the NRA has conducted itself for a long while now.
It is not the same organization that my Grandfather and Father belonged to...nor is it the same from when I first joined.

However...
Blanket statements such as "its an old organization for old people with old ideas"....
Seldom cover as much , as one might think.

When we were young and were soldiers, we had more hair on our heads than our backs (despite the high & tights, phohawks, and "on the floor" buzzcuts... LOL)....

Now be honest, into your late 50's, unless your mama's side had good hair, you now have more hair that's migrated from your head onto your back!

And don't overlook them nostrils and ear-holes either!

;) :s0140:

Yeah, I haven't either. Other than at the local Friends of NRA banquets. My wife and I have won a ton of stuff at those, including several guns. The difference I suppose is that there is a limited number in the local audience instead of a nationwide raffle. Sadly, sometime around Covid they discontinued those banquets in our area. I've been a Life Member for 25 years and was an annual member for several years before that. What worries me a little is, I was a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club. They too dropped their magazine from monthly to quarterly. That only lasted a few quarters, then they discontinued the magazine altogether, sold out the membership list to some third party that was offering sports (non-hunting) related stuff and basically just went away. Some folks blamed Bill Miller. Seems like he was the founder, and he sold out to a corporate third party that really wasn't hunting related. I've read various things from NAHC being bankrupt, to Bill Miller pocketing some cash and screwing over the membership. I'm not really sure what actually happened. I had been a Life Member for quite some time, received a lot of monthly magazines, and got a really nice leather jacket when I paid the Life Member dues. So, I didn't feel like I got too raw of a deal. But, they were selling life memberships right up until the sale. Those folks signing up in the later years got the screwgie.

I've been a member since '98 . Signed up for the 4 quarterly print issues and the 12 digital . Only thing that is constant is ..... change . :)

Yeah, I think they have become a victim of their own success. As I said earlier, once you achieve the Presidency, the Congress, and the Supreme Court, a lot of folks lose motivation for protecting gun rights. A lot like how gun sales skyrocket when rights are perceived to be threatened then decline when said rights are perceived to be secure.

Sorry to hear that the magazines are going quarterly. I always looked forward to them each month. Have noticed the last couple years that they have become thinner. My grandfather and father were members years ago and I became a member at a young age. I do remember they were always looking for donations with a free knife, hat or jacket. Years ago, they dropped the life membership to $300. 00 that's when I jumped on that. After being a life member, it seemed that they backed off requesting donations. For the record I may be an old fart going on 73 years old but still have a full head of hair and no grey yet.

Now the NRA?
I'm not surprised.
Getting old Has its downsides besides health!
I've out live several lifetime guarantees the first was replacement from Sears for a 1/2" pipe die, mine were square, the new ones hex, so replacement wouldn't work in my fixture, (now they are out of business). Then it was the furnace system, when First Call McCall oil sold out, the garbage set up I was grandfathered in when it was sold to waste management, Gerber warranty on a tool they no longer make so gave me a piece of junk to settle, the money match retirement system when the company sold out, Oregon's Kicker refund, and even more lifetime promises, guarantees, or warranties.

At some point in your life you will realize a lifetime promise of anything is maybe good for six months, after that, consider yourself dang lucky. :)

La Pierre has been gone for a couple of years now. I've been a member since 1972. Signed up members to make the 2 million club. Lifer since 1988.
Even throw they haven't been as good as should be, it has been some of the best (sometimes only) anti-firearm law fighting lobbying we have or had.
But a couple of other organizations are getting good at it as well.
I've swapped from Rifleman to Hunter and back a number of times during my membership. I don't read articles on my phone. I don't read in the bathroom.
I like magazines and newspapers. Yes, I'm old.

It's funny. I was just mulling over switching to Rifleman from Hunter. I find myself spending about 10 minutes to peruse an entire issue of Hunter. Many of the hunts are in high percentage of success locations (ranches) where I will never have access. Or they are hunting species that I don't have interest or access to hunt. While the writers may be having a great time, I've little interest in reading stories of hunting bears over bait or whitetails approaching mechanical corn feeders. Hey, if it's legal, more power to them. I just about fall asleep reading about it. The hunting stories in RMEF's Bugle magazine are far superior in my opinion.

Fortunately my 5yr renewal is up in 2029. I feel bad for life members since one of their expectations was for a monthly print magazine.
I've been a life member for over 25 years years and it doesn't bother me a bit. Even way back then, I figured eventually things would go digital.

Do people really join the NRA for the magazine?!? I would have joined even if they never published any magazines.
