So my latest purchase was an M&P M2.0 10mm w.4.6" barrel, and no safety. I've had it about a year, and have put maybe 600 rounds through it shooting mostly S&B 180gr FMJ and JHP, along with PMC 200gr FMJ. I haven't tried the more stout rounds yet. Anyway, it has turned into a major disappointment. It has had failure to feed issues (stove pipes upwards), and multiple instances of it not fully going into battery. It does not seem to be magazine related, as it does this on all 4 of my mags. So, yesterday, I installed a Galloway Precision 24lb. recoil spring assembly with the stainless steel guide rod, and took it to the range and ran about 200 rounds through it. It did perform a little better with no stove pipe FTF's; but, it did fail to go into full battery many times. Some from the 1st round in the mag, others in the middle of the mag. It seemed to get worse as the chamber got dirtier. I was able to slap it into battery by slapping the back of the slide; but, it was a stiff fit getting the rounds fully seated.

Any thoughts on this? I love the ergonomics of this thing; but, it just isn't worth keeping as unreliable as it is. I've thought about changing out the mag springs with Springer Precision 11 coil HD springs. I also have an Apex Tactical extractor standing by that I haven't installed yet. Lastly, I thought maybe polishing the feed ramp might help. Anyway, thoughts or suggestions appreciated. In the end, if I do end up replacing it, I'm going to lean towards an all metal platform like a Sig P220 Legion 10mm, or maybe a 1911 platform such as a Dan Wesson Razorback.

Have had two DW 10mm 1911's...they are great! I also suspect the P220 will be spectacular for you but they always seemed much bigger/heavier then any of my 10mm 1911's. Had a few Glock 10mm's too and they have their own little issues like your M&P depending on the ammo used. I've had five 10mm Glocks and they always feed FMJ fine but when you used full-boat carry ammo or hard cast, they like KKM barrels and stronger mag springs...just a few thoughts :)

Send it back to Smith & Wesson, I hear they have excellent warranty service.

FWIW a stovepipe is an ejection problem (FTE), which could interfere with the slide returning to battery. If for some reason I couldnt send it back for warranty I would replace the extractor, put the OEM springs back in it or even try a lighter recoil spring to assure ejection so the next round can feed...

Ditto. They'll take care of you.

I have three of your exact same pistols. I have had no problems with them, and they are very reliable.
I do, however, run a 22lb Wolf Spring & guide rod so my ejects remain in the same zip code. Wolf does not make an RSA for the 10mm, per say, but people in the know use the RSA for a 45ACP because S&W uses the same large frame.
I would like to shoot it suppressed but no one makes a threaded barrel for the 10mm because the walls are too thin to support threads.

I also have Glock 20's (Gen 5) that I shoot with an Obsidian suppressor & KKM barrel. The Glocks will FTF the same way you have described if I use any load with an MV above 1,060 FPS, it's a guarantee. Not a stove pipe but a FTF where the cartridge is only halfway in the chamber, pointed up at about a 45-degree angle. Bullet weigh or type doesn't matter, it's the MV that causes the feed problem, only when suppressed. I have used RSA's from 17 to 24lbs. The 24lb RSA is made by only one manufacturer I had to dig deep to find.

I have used all kinds of factory ammo as well as mostly my handloads. I can say with confidence that your S&B are the most reliable feeders among factory ammo. Bear loads like Underwood ammo tend to be problematic because of the stout recoil that requires a very firm grip to avoid FTE or FTF, mostly FTFs.

Also, I have had poor customer service with S&W. No Com's and very long turnaround times.

Well, after some testing and parts swaps it seems to be running fine now. I replaced the RSA with a Galloway Precision 24lb w/stainless guide rod, replaced my mag springs with Springer Precision 11 coil HD springs, and I put in an Apex extractor. I also polished the chamber and feed ramp. It has run reliably my last 2 trips to the range with factory S&B and some 180gr Underwood JHP I had. So far, so good.

I don't know if you have done the extractor test or not. You don't necessarily have to replace the extractor, I just remove it and adjust it. Quite a few videos on YouTube about that. That has fixed a lot of 9 mm and 10 mm gun problems for me. If that doesn't work Dan wessons are great if you want a single stack. If you want a double stack, go with the new Kimber warrior. I just bought one and it's living up to the hype . And the price is quite good for what you're getting. Good luck!
