No evidence exists whatsoever that any such thing is being done. These bills are being written by the gun lobby themselves. If government officials were involved, they would have warned them about these obvious errors that they have been making, that got the initiatives thrown out in courts in both Oregon and Washington.

I'll get out my fingerprint duster and the cast of NCIS so we can find you some.

So you are disputing that the info that Playboy has shared here regarding the legal challenges to I-1639 are true and accurate? On what basis? All press accounts that I could find appear to support what he has said here. The NRA did not join the legal challenge until many weeks later. The Second Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms were the organizations that came forward to fight this initiative. Yet we now see the NRA-ILA taking all the credit.

The main hatred that I see being demonstrated here, is hatred for sharing the truth.

If anyone can present evidence that Playboy is lying here about what happened in this legal challenge, I am all ears to listen.

But for now, I believe that he has been truthful in describing what happened.

.

Maybe he'll put you in one of his videos.

This is a totally unnecessary and disrespectful comment by you, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic being discussed.

Legislators have had no part in these latest gun control initiatives in Oregon and Washington. The gun control advocates are now going direct to the people, using the initiative process.

With so many billionaires and millionaires giving them millions of dollars to finance these initiative campaigns, they don't have to rely solely on lobbying the legislatures anymore. This is their main primary now.
I understand what is happening with gun control initiatives and our legislators.
My reply was in response to a question posed to me.

The NRA is going to have to change its tactics. It has been relying on donating to politicians but the recent spate of A rated Republican governors signing gun control legislation coupled with the tyranny-of-the-majority effect that sometimes results from the petition process, it is time for the NRA to change tactics. If I had any influence, my suggestions would be:

1) Improve the marketing and make an attempt to appeal to all gun owners because that number is certainly larger than the smaller subset of those who might appreciate the ultra-nationalistic/angry/retributionist materials. Make an effort to put gun ownership and gun owners in a positive light. We're all probably friendly/unfriendly at the same rates as any other group. Don't make people fear us.

2) Stop mixing issues. LaPiere's recent article in The Rifleman on socialism comes to mind -- lots of socialists like guns. So do Democrats, Republicans, Greens, Libertarians, etc. etc. Going out of your way to alienate gun owners is like shooting yourself in the foot. Twice. On purpose. To prevail in the recent spate of initiatives, we need as many voters as possible, even those who do yoga or crystal therapy.

3) Invest more money in litigation -- the fact that pro-gun legislation is dead despite GOP majorities in the House and Senate plus a Republican president, speaks volumes. The only way we have been able to retain our rights has been with litigation and so instead of blowing so much money on politicians, put it to work where it can do some actual good. States do have deep pockets, but the money can be exhausted -- if EVERY piece of gun legislation costs the states or cities or counties, multi-millions in litigation costs, it will be felt and could put a damper on these ridiculous laws. Be absolutely relentless and make gun-control legislation so cost prohibitive, it doesn't get done, or at least not at the current rate.

4) Pay attention to the states because that is where the fight is right now. Ignoring the states to throw money at Congress has not borne fruit, meanwhile, in at least half the states touching saltwater, gun rights are being eroded rapidly and as these laws remain on the books, they become more entrenched and harder to undo, but even worse, their existence encourages more states to pass similar measures. If CA style gun control was the law in half the states, it's more likely that SCOTUS would just accept that as the new status quo, and then Congress would finish off the rest of the states. We're being defeated in detail right now and the NRA should join those groups that are resisting but just aren't rich enough to do all they need to do.

I'm still a member of the NRA, and I'll keep renewing, but I'm just a minimum member -- I figure that having me on their membership list is helpful at least in demonstrating that there are a lot of gun owners. In contrast, I donate as much as I can afford to SAF and even though I don't get a fleece blanket out of it, I get fighters -- and sometimes they win as in with I-1639, and that is worth more to me than any logo-ed piece of made-in-China carp.

I think it may be that the billionaire gun grabbers are giving drafts to the legislators they own AND to the private anti-2A groups they own.

Take it further and Can Wayne! That dude is the bane of the NRA! Nothing good has ever happened while he has been in charge, and he is a Bubblegummer to EVERY body that isn't a millionaire handing him cash!
