This is going to take some work...
If you have friends or family who don't regularly vote, or are somewhat disengaged from the politics of the day, it's time for a conversation. It's going to take more than just WA's "super-owners" to beat this down in Nov... gonna need the fence-sitters and gun agnostics (aGUNostics?) to play along too.
My job has me in WA every week... I can't do any hard core politicking w my customers, but I can put a subtle bug in their ears. It won't turn any antis into pros, but it might persuade some of the previously ill-informed or disinterested to break our way.
Indeed. A handful of 'workers' in the Legislative threads aren't going to get this done...not even close. To sit on the fence is a form of support through apathy, meaning those that won't get off their a$$ to proactively work to get it voted down, is effectively helping (handing?) the opposition to a victory. The anti's are counting on this. The 'after fact' outrage is childish wastage of breath...my broken record 'keeping it off the books is far superior than trying to get it off the books.' If it gets voted in, it'll be the ends justifying the means and open the door for court(s) to ignore all the other non-compliant/unlawful issues...the 'will of the people will have spoken!!' It is absolutely ridiculous that it has to be voted on before courts can rule it illegal on blatant procedural errors (flawed petition signature gathering). Talk about abuse of the system.
Thinking you can 'mind your own business/silent and out of this mess' is the pathway to failure.
Also important to remember, if the opposition wins, but by a slimmer margin, that greatly helps arguments down the road. If it wins by a landslide, well...that certainly doesn't help.
And then look at King Co's action plan, particularly Step 3, (my other post), they'll be looking to overturn state pre-emption and then ban the possession (and sale) of 'high velocity, semi-auto weapons.' I note no grandfathering mentioned. So all y'all in King Co. better start getting it in ULTRA-HIGH gear unless you want to loose your 'semi-auto high, velocity weapons' or be forced to move. Sound practical? Other counties will no doubt follow suit.
Let's be honest, this is all stemming primarily from a single incident in Mukilteo last year.
And remember, there's no guarantee the SCOTUS would hear a case on this...if they do, it might be years down the road...what will you do in the mean time?
EVERY 2A & gun owner had better start writing their legislators demanding answers of this illegal action by the state supreme court and writing letters to every news agency outlining the faults of this illegal BS decision. I just sent a letter to MY elected officials and every news agency in my area demanding IF they're going to let us bleed or whatever. I'm so po'd right now I can't stand it.
^^^And not just once. Keep it professional/respectful/fact based.
The glee and zeal with which some sheeple appear to take in stripping away rights law abiding citizens who've never done any thing wrong...1984 can't get here fast enough for them.
I probably won't be spending as much time posting on here 'preaching to the choir.' I'll be spending more time/effort reaching outside of this forum. I'd recommend you consider doing the same.
Hopefully the powers that be full-utilize the power of this forum to reach as wide and audience as possible (*cough* post in the semi-auto rifle and pistol sections (among other) *cough, cough*).
