Chinas CDC now suggests nobody leave or go into Wuhan. Not a Gov mandate quarantine just a expert suggestion.

Scientists want to cut off Wuhan from the rest of the world to fight the spread of the deadly virus gripping the city

"
Zeng, who is leading the Chinese government's efforts to respond to the outbreak, made clear that his recommendation was not a government-imposed quarantine.

"This is not a call from the officials but a suggestion from us in the expert team," he said, according to The Post.

So the movie contagion is actually happening

Contagion (2011 film) - Wikipedia

And why is it almost always china breeding these things. As a kid I remember learning about disease and virus from Africa at the time now its always reported from China.
Its china beacause of the population density, lack of sanitation in farming /harvesting practices, and the proximity of both previously mentioned. If a animal with a new mutated virus is out in nowheresville its chance spreading to humans is minimal, in china the probability is high.

I was thing the movie “Outbreak” myself:

Outbreak (1995) - IMDb
That was a monkey from Africa, but in Contagion...

...a flashback, the source of the virus is revealed. A bulldozer owned by Alderson International Mining and Manufacturing (AIMM), the company Beth worked for, clears some jungle and disturbs a bat, which takes food from a banana tree. The bat flies over a pigpen, dropping a chunk of banana, which is then eaten by a piglet. A chef from the Macau casino buys the piglet. As he handles the carcass in the kitchen, he does not wash his hands when called to meet a customer – Beth Emhoff. The chef shakes hands with Beth, giving her the mix of bat and pig viruses, making her patient zero.

What will be interesting to watch is when some new "thing" like this hits some of these "homeless cities". Since you have hordes of people, with no sanitation, living in 3d world conditions BY CHOICE, with lots of drug use so weakened people. Some bad bug is going to come along and let people see stuff they had only seen in pictures of history books.

They're giving out hepatitis in cities like Portland and Seattle for free every day. What's another virus among friends?

There is now a confirmed case in northern Washington: https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/01/21/coronavirus-us-case/

Dude flew in before the airport screening began but was asymptomatic anyway. So, great, we've essentially got an airborne virus with an incubation period of up to ~10 days.

SARS's mortality rate is ~15%, with it jumping to ~50% for those older than 64, while MERS sits around ~35%.

At these levels, I'd hope that anyone who catches it is smart enough to stay the eff home. But, just like there's always that asshat with measles who just has to see xyz new movie in the theater...I'm sure there will be people spreading this around as well. Hopefully it stays north of the river for us...
