When talk turns to a Civil War II, it's said Americans are the best armed people in the world, with hundreds of millions of guns and trillions of cartridges. Hold on, not so fast. Think this through. Take away the rimfire rifles, the small bore shotguns, the collectibles chambering obsolete or oddball cartridges, the rusted shut .30-30s leaning in the corners of barns, the gentlewomen's purse guns in anemic calibers, the single shot rifles, the nonfunctional wall hangers and fixer uppers and all you have is enough combat-worthy firearms and ammo stashes to supply the world's armies not "many times over" but only a few times over.
