Has anyone seen a Mosin Nagant M44 for sale in the greater Portland area recently? I've got an itch for a Mosin today! I checked the classifieds and called my local Big 5 with no luck.

Seems like they are getting harder to find. I stumbled upon one at the last WAC show in Puyallup and snatched it up but I haven't seen one for sale in a shop for a very long time.

About a year ago it was reported that the supply from across the pond had dried up. Prices are rising, grab it if you see it.

The M44 was on my short list of rifles I wanted, but since I got the AK I promised I wouldn't buy any more. I haven't seen one locally for a very long time.

If you are just looking for a sore shoulder and giant fireballs out of a full caliber carbine, a M95 Steyr performs just as well as an M44.

There was a bunch of Chinese Type 53s in the market recently. Chinese version of the M44, I don't believe there are significant differences. Check aimsurplus.com and classicfirearms.com. Again, not in Portland but there may be some around here.

This is correct... I have standing wants for them with the dealers, and in the past six plus months no real decent ones have been shaken loose, if you are looking for an all matching numbers M44.
The Chinese 44's are iffy in my opinion. :paranoid:
