my doc says I can start shooting high power rifles with my new eyes in Aug - 2 weeks away
originally paid $180 at Big 5
I built this rifle last year, but never shot it
it had the best bore of any of my Mosins, including my Finn M38

1932 Hex Mosin from ishevsk
installed post war laminate stock with 2 recoil bolts
bolt modified to bent bolt by Jim the Bolt Man
bolt lapped into the receiver (cycled the action 1000 times with JB compound)
installed aftermarket firing pin spring
replaced extractor
chamber honed
bore lapped
MOJO front and rear aperture sights
Huber trigger
barrel and receiver shimmed and free floated
magazine free floated
single piece dissconect to prevent rim lock

OK, has anyone on this forum actually shot a 3/8 AR500 steel target with Russian 7.62x54R silver tip steel core 147 gn ammo out of a 28" Mosin bbl at 100 yrds?
or 200 grn "special" ammo?
I've read at least a dozen posting on other web sites that it blows right through AR500, with photos
yet it's safe for NATO 7.62 M118 LR 175 gn ammo

in 2 weeks, I'll use my new eyes to try both on my AR500 swinging steel target and let you know

the US Military certifies their issue ballistic vest will stop modern Russian 7.62x54R light and heavy ball
but what about '70s issue 147 gn silver tip?
what about 200 grn Russian "special ammo"?
now, there is this event called "behind armor trauma"
