Hi new here so go easy on me. Just acquired my grandfathers Savage Model 1914 pump S, L & LR. The end of the brass magazine has become fatigued and the knurled knob has stripped out the tube with it's tang and copper rivet. If I cut 3/8" off the end to get back to solid tubing would this affect the loading of the cartridges? Would the mainspring push the cartridges anyway until maybe the last round? I can use a Dremmel to fashion new holes in the brass to refit the knurled knob. I don't think I would have much luck finding an old existing replacement. Thanks Mike.
