ALL of these CRAZY(IMHO) attempts to ban this or that have not changed my buying habits one bit. From what I've seen the changes are going to end up in Courts for many years. OF

We may win in the end OR we may loose but if WE behave ourselves we'll stay out of Jail and continue to enjoy out toys.

You're very optimistic. Problem is the new legislation gets approved then it goes into practice until a couple years later it gets overturned. So any BS that gets passed we have to deal with it.

Then the other problem is the "if we behave" problem is we need to realize, and stand firmly where the line is that they can't push past where the Constitution is not being violated. Behaving is a constant movement that we'll need to keep adjusting what we're doing until we no longer have any rights.

Sorry, incoherent thoughts....

Alexx,

Regarding my post of #53 and your reply to me which I should have quoted but screwed up.

I know that ammunition that is stored properly will not go bad. That goes for reloading supplies too.

IT is a good investment as long as you don't buy PANIC buy, don't buy at crazy high prices, don't go into debt, actually USE what you shoot, always rotate your stock, ALWAYS keep some stock on hand - minimum level for ALL of your caliber firearms which may differ for RF, CF, shotgun shells and/or BP, change your minimum to highest stock levels for your annual ammunition needs as your shooting habits CHANGE due to physical issues, age, lifestyle, size of home, shooters in your home, etc.

I figure it is all based on an individual's shooting habits and if you have a family that shoots - do that and calculate your results on an annual basis.

We always used our ammunition, rotated it, bought new RF, a bit of CF factory ammo and my MT husband has reloaded since the early 70's as I mentioned. We do the same thing for his reloading stock.

Back east, I bought RF and CF ammunition and I did not reload with my late husband as stated previously. I brought ALL of my ammo out here when I moved out west. It was a FAIR amount (Heavy!) but not a huge amount of ammo. I PACKED and moved my stuff alone into my former Coleman pop up camper and in my former SUV. I did it by as much as I could hold safely in my hands! ALL of it came with me shy of one caliber because I sold that firearm caliber back east. ALL of my other guns shared ammo - matching calibers in RF and in CF shy of one 45Long Colt - RUGER Blackhawk which still came with me. I loved that handgun and CALIBER!

I could never understand why someone followed the crowd on WHAT to buy in guns or in any other THING in life or went into debt for some things in life.

I don't panic buy. I am not into fads and I never followed the crowd because of what was in vogue. I am a fiscal conservative. I saved up to buy guns, personal items and household goods in the past. I still do that with any THING in my life.

I do understand asking for advice or suggestions as a NEWBIE in guns (I was one of those people!) or as a LIFE LONG - long time shooter - owner of many, many firearms and calibers. (My MT husband as an example.)

I don't have children. Items have been given as GIFTS or sold at our cost to friends or family when there was NO panic going on AND when things were crazy not too long ago with fake/real shortages.

My husband and I are older and IF we do move or don't move one last time - one thing is for sure - NEVER AGAIN!

Meaning, what can be moved easily with LESS ammo (RF, a bit of factory ammo and some but NOT large amounts of reloaded ammo. SEE other post here.) compared to what it was previously especially when we got married with his/her firearms, his/her ammunition AND his previous reloading supplies - it is too much to deal with even if you hire part or all of it to be moved to your own truck/car by a professional mover.

They have RULES on what can be moved but some of them will move some boxes/tubs to your vehicle even if it does not go in their truck.

Plus most of out friends are older, some have physical issues and several of them are already DEAD! No offense. We would NOT impose on our friends to help us.

Now, if I was younger and had children who actually wanted my ammunition, they would still have to earn or buy their own ammo plus what I gifted them, I might have a different plan.

But since I base all of this on an INDIVIDUAL basis - I will stick with my plan. My plan as a married lady shooter and widow, back east and out here, for years on end was different compared to what it is now for ME. I am NO longer a high volume shooter. My physical issues got worse with age.

My MT husband's former shooting plan with his reloading stock, a bit of factory CF ammo, far more gun calibers, far more firearms and far LESS RF ammunition in the past is different NOW too. He still shoots several times a week - year round. He is shooting LESS calibers in fewer firearms with his reloaded ammo, a bit of factory ammo and he is increasing his RF shooting some too. He still shoots CF firearms more than RF as he did in the past. He has some age related physical issues too.

When he downsized and consolidated ALL of his reloading supplies, firearms, factory ammunition, holsters, etc. - I helped him. I helped him a LOT! (Mine were much simpler to do and most of my stuff was already done or close to it. I do not and never did have what he HAD in firearms or in gun stuff/gear!) I could MOVE and chart things when he was at work and when we were at home together too. I could LIFT those items since the things that I personally moved were NOT in heavy ammo cans and the reloading stock - I set it up and did it piecemeal with my arthritic fingers. I just made more trips back and forth with my floor, table, new shelves stocking and the gift and sell piles. He lifted the HEAVY ammo cans not me. ALL of that heavy ammo has been used up now too. Now, the CF ammo cans are NOT loaded to the top or heavy. When I move or rotate the RF ammo - I just rotate one or more boxs over in a flat sealed - smaller case/tub.

Take care. Have a nice Sunday.

So...is it a good idea to serialize my mags? Or how would something like this be handeled for already purchased magazines? Grandfathered? I'm sure not volunteering my property to any government without a reimbursement price I will determine.

Yeah I lost all my guns in a boating accident. Damn rock came out of nowhere.

It's quiet, a little too quiet (media coverage wise, by today's standards)...almost like they don't want folks to know what they're up too...

So, with 53 Republicans in the Senate, plus the President, what are the chances of this actually passing on the federal level?

The smart-ish among them will heed what happened in '94 if they want to keep there jobs.

Unfortunately, the PNW is poised to do pursue similar on the state level. So winning on the federal level might be rather moot. Law abiding citizens would still be made 'criminals' with the stroke of a pen...

The FUDDS, moderates, and complacents better get their act in gear. Might be worth a bump...and a share...

I would rate that as a complete waste of your time. If they want to ban them they will either grandfather them which means you keep them as is or else they will make them completely illegal meaning you don't get to bring them out till the revolution.

Anyone know the status of this legislation? Most of what I'm finding is old news. Thanks.
The Democratically-controlled committee voted to advance three bills to the floor that would ban high-capacity magazines; provide funds to incentivize states to establish red flag laws; and make it illegal for someone convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime to own a gun.

:
The Republican-controlled Senate, led by majority leader Mitch McConnell, is unlikely to take up any of the bills should they pass the House.

From the brief snippet I saw on the news, it seems they're playing the 'wait and see' game on what the president might sign. And thus to see actual proposals.

Some, particularly, Senators should be thinking very hard about their next election prospects. 1994 will repeat itself.

Perhaps the question needs to start being asked directly of the GC crowd: When will you be satisfied? At what level of infringing on law-abiding citizens' rights will you stop? Seriously, quit dicking around- what level of our rights do we get to exercise in your learned opinion? What types of firearms are acceptable in your eyes in the hands of law abiding citizens?

Then: Why? (Realizing the purpose of the 2A is NOT 'sporting/hunting')

Then: How do expect to accomplish that? And please refrain from using the term 'buy back' as with the exception of military surplus, the government has never owned law abiding citizens' firearms.

Of course, it wouldn't be worth anything, as their words are worthless, but it would possibly expose their agendas and open peoples' eyes a bit.

And at the end of your statement ask TPTB if they remember what happened to the last government that tried to disarm the populace...

Sadly, the GC crowd response is basically, "We will be satisfied with gun control laws when firearms don't account for any human deaths." The only way to ensure firearms don't account for any death is to have no firearms, which is not possible. The GC crowd doesn't understand that a ban only works for those that want to obey laws (and already don't kill people), no matter how hard you try to explain it to them.

I find the 2A debate to be similar to organized religion in the sense that it is about controlling the masses without their knowledge that they are being controlled.

I would argue that religion is purely voluntary. Gun control most definitely is not.

True and understood by most all here.

The point is to take another approach in an attempt to try and shed light on agendas with specific, pointed questions from an alternative perspective. Rather than asking about this gun or accessory - which gives the opportunity to look like they're only going after one 'evil' thing (ie 'assault weapons' etc) - it shows what some their end game is.
