I noticed when I tried to copy and paste a link I posted that the forum seems to direct it to viglink.com first

the link I posted here. If I right click and pick "copy link address" on the link to the fbi website, I get the following link
Washington background checks doubled in March

Code:
https://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_145996147886912&key=c9246c98dde50798bb7df61a96d69abf&libId=imp33muy01001se7000DAo82kuvb8&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.northwestfirearms.com%2Fthreads%2Fwashington-background-checks-doubled-in-march.217815%2F%23post-1429796&v=1&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.fbi.gov%2Fabout-us%2Fcjis%2Fnics%2Freports%2Fnics_firearm_checks_-_month_year_by_state_type.pdf&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.northwestfirearms.com%2Ffind-new%2F3886221%2Fposts&title=Washington%20background%20checks%20doubled%20in%20March%20%7C%20Northwest%20Firearms&txt=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.fbi.gov%2Fabout-us%2Fcjis%2Fnics%2Freports%2Fnics_firearm_checks_-_month_year_by_state_type.pdf

Is that supposed to happen? I dont mind advertising, but Im not a fan of internet trackers.

We use VigLink to manage our affiliate links, appending our affiliate code to the end of links. Looks like it's working as it should ;)

Hate to break up the party fest. I don't play. I go direct.
Script blockers kill all that does not pertain :D

That's all fine, until we can't afford to keep the lights on :(

oh so this takes care of links to amazon and such? I wasnt sure that every link going through that site was kosher

Yep, it should give us credit for Amazon, Cabela's, Bass Pro, and a few hundred other sites. It's not much, but it adds up :)

My apology, Joe. I learned years ago how to stay away from problems that arise, that eventually lead to having to dive deep within the bowels of a PC to fix. Spyware, Malware, Trojans, Trackers, they're not to my liking. Especially when I have to service the rest of my computer illiterate families machines.

Is the amount I pay for a subscription more than what you get from the average user viewing ads and clicking links? (just curious, I want to make sure Im adequately supporting the site while keeping my tracker blocker on)

I can't fault you there! :)

Oh yeah, much more. That's why we disable ads ourselves for Supporting Members. Bronze and Silver have most disabled, Gold through Diamond see no ads. It's a little counter-intuitive disabling ads for those who spend money, but it's well worth it to show our appreciation :)
