The free enterprise system is the core component of our Country's economy. At least it is until the Socialist in Chief finally destroys it. Price gouging sucks, but is an unfortunate fact of life. Unscrupulous types will always find a way to exploit a crisis. This is also exactly what the anti 2A people are doing.

I don't think anyone is challenging their right to jack up their prices, but are challenging the wisdom. I understand that there are many people out there making emotional purchasing decisions, and who are willing to pay high prices. Capitalism is a wonderful thing. But after 40 years of collecting, I have seen many dealers come and go. And the dealers who remain in business for many years, sell their inventory at fair market prices, appreciate their customers by being respectful and showing common courtesy, and understand that they are in business for the long term, and sincerely want to retain repeat customers.

I personally do not think any new restrictions will be enacted, for a whole host of reasons I am not going to recite here. But in a few months, when more guns, mags, and ammo are being delivered from the manufacturers and distributors, I am only going to purchase from dealers who showed respect for their customers during this momentary spike in frenzied, emotional buying.

Also, I will personally boycott gun shows. Not going to pay for parking and admission, only to be then insulted by smaller dealers who more than doubled their prices in the last two weeks and are looking for the next sucker to walk along.

So SA&A (which last I checked is like any other company out there - for profit) is supposed to sell them at pre-hysteria prices so that random individuals can they resell them at current market value? Why are said individuals more deserving of this extra money, eh comrades?

Have to disagree. Most dealers are adjusting their prices to match the going rates. Distributors don't have jack for sh*t in stock right now. So how does the little guy make a living if he can't adjust prices to FMV w/o someone calling him a gouger and profiteer? Especially when he can't get any more stock?

(I am NOT a firearms dealer)

Case in point.

Assume that I can purchase a Glock 17 for about $500 shipped. Assume that I can only get $525 for it because people are constantly complaining that they can get the gun cheaper elsewhere (guns are sold on tiers, the more you sell, the cheaper they get). So that's $25 profit for each gun sold. Assume you can maybe eek out about 10 guns a month (just Glock 17's). That's a whopping $250 in profit. Getting rich here quick! Now what happens when there's a huge rush on guns and I can no longer get 10 guns a month to sell? Well that's simple. Prices go up so dealers can feed their families just like everyone else.

None of these assumptions above take in to account the fact prices have *already* begun to rise at the distributor level. As stock runs out and concerns about getting more stock become more fervid, prices will continue to climb. Also doesn't take in to account dealers that don't have large inventories.

Just something to think about before trashing every single company raising their prices as they watch auction prices rise.
