rufus-Did Iran finish their nukes, or did they finally get ICBM capability? Either way, they are pushing and pushing. If they don't draw Israel into firing first, they will eventually do it. During the Cold War, reasonable men had their fingers on the trigger, hence no nuclear war. We now have Iran, a nation ran by religious fanatics, possibly with nukes and possibly with the potential to get them into position. We armed Iran in the '60's, armed Iraq in the '70's and armed Afghanistan in the '80's. Isn't it funny that all those weapons have been used against us at some point? I do not believe that the US is an innocent party in all of this, that is ridiculous. We should never have gotten this involved, let them fight it out and dealt with the winner. Instead, we sided wholely with Israel and here we are. Of course it's not that simple and of course there are other, perfectly valid, views and opinions on the subject. I also don't believe them when they say Israel and our support of them is the main source of their anger. My point is, in my opinion they had one and just completed the other. The threats and, as you put it, sabre rattling sure did pick up after they announced successfully putting a satellite into orbit. That was my reason for mentioning the ICBM angle. I believe that they had the nukes, but no way to insure them hitting their targets. Once they come in from orbit, it is my understanding that they move to fast to intercept. That makes Iran a whole lot more dangerous if they do in fact have both nukes and ICBM potential. Let's not forget that the Khoran(spelling?) tells them to lie and deceive the infidel in order to defeat them. In their eyes, the annihilation of Israel brings back their God. If they prompted an attack,it would be on Israel and would last 2 days max.Israel would nuke them without hesitation. And they might send a couple more towards other countries they don't like,claiming collateral damage.
Why care about Israel? What do they need use for and why do we always side with them?

IMHO, it is mostly posturing to appear strong to it's neighbors and to try and get monetary attention from the US. Sadly the US (run as it is by the energy lobby...mostly oil) is more than willing to feed the hysteria to drive up fuel prices and increase profits for those oil concerns. It doesn't hurt that there are a lot of domestic proposals on the board right now that cannot stand up under their own weight so the best way to make them appear more acceptable is to drive up foreign oil prices.
