So how was everyone's panic buying this weekend???
It looked pretty good. I went by Sporting Systems on Saturday and they had a line out the door waiting to their turn to get in.
I wasn't thinking real hard about getting anything so I headed on down the road.

I got mine Friday:D

Unfortunately, nowhere is is specified exactly what diagnoses or codes thery will look foir or which ones will "concern" the state. Essentially once you sign they have carte blanc to to go fishing for anything "they" (the state) they like.
Consider this, When we open a patient up and do a coronary bypass it is almost a certainty that they will develop depression.
Since this process is supposedly about "prevention" they could certainly decide to more highly scutinize individuals who have undergone heart surgery....... the depths to which a buracracy will sink in the interst of "public good" knows no bounds or limits.

This change in the law WILL have an effect; and the effect it will have is that patients who might benefit from talking to someone or a short course of medications will be hesitant to seek out care of any kind. Those that need help and those that will most likely benefit from such help will no get it. It is actually a public health travesty that will cause untold harm.

This has to violate the HIPPA laws

Talked with a shop today and sounds like that release has always been on the FFL form.. In the gray shaded area.. I was under the impression this was a new issue as well.. but apparently not new after all...
It was a one time check that you allowed when purchasing. Now it'll be open access for them to check whenever they desire wether you purchase or not. I doubt many realize it gives the Gov unfettered access to your medical records.

This was my understanding as well based on how it was written. One time check at the time of purchase...NOT anytime, whenever...forever.

It would be unlikely they consider it a HIPPA violation if YOU SIGN A WAIVER...especially in line with something that has been around for a couple decades (purchase check).

If you don't like it, well just don't make the purchase...easy peasy, right?:(

There will be many who do exactly that...not purchase another 10/22 or AR...which is what the prohibitionists want...probably going to put some shops out of business... again, what they want.

Don't be surprised if the next is 'Well, what about all these people who already own them? Shouldn't they be required to be trained too? Isn't that just common sense?'

Let's hope 1639 is rightfully gets struck down in the courts. Do your part to spread the word.

As long as 1639 is in effect, I'll not buy another firearm. No way am I giving full access to my most personal records to be checked whenever they feel like it. Ill send my firearm budget to SAF.

Just buy 80% ers out of state with cash. Their are enough options now to satisfy almost anyone, glock, 1911, 10/22, ar15, ar10, sig 320, AK. Etc
