I think we need to get as many people as we can to get documentation of this chicanery in as many different locations as possible and get it all submitted to the office of the Washington Attorney General. I for one will be making daily trips around the valley seeking them out to document this activity.

I did ask the petitioners how would it keep kids safer when someone who is committed to doing them harm is already going to ignore all laws against doing that.

They didn't have an answer.

Has anyone actually seen this, it's being put out on the internet...???

"This is the new low the gun control folks have hit. Cannot win the debate being honest so they are deceiving people by using these signs knowing people are too lazy to actually know what they're really voting on. It has nothing, zero, to do with tabs or groceries."

I've seen this, and reported on it, at my local Walmart. Paid gatherers with stacks of petitions for multiple initiatives, they don't care what they're pushing or whose money they take as long as the paychecks clear. Damn mercenaries...

Saw it at UW Tacoma today, completely obliterated the petition gatherers when I asked them if they knew anything about the "background checks" already done whey a gun is purchased. I asked if they were paid to be there and they confirmed they were paid petition gatherers.

It is time to ban paid signature gatherers. If an initiative has the support of the people, paying people to gather signatures is not necessary because there will be plenty of volunteers.

If it turns out to actually be a bait and switch scam to get signatures I plan on sending that information and whatever evidence of it that I can collect to not only the state AG, but to the offices of the local, county and state elected officials that represent me as well as any media outlets that I can think of. Sending email is quick, cheap and easy, and if this is a scam i would suggest anyone coming across it do the same.

I'm sad to say my wife got suckered into signing it. She is pretty upset by it

I wonder how many more got tricked the into signing. Anything collected that way should be thrown out. A bunch of lying cheaters doing what they are best at. And i doubt they would get in trouble even if caught , the systems are so corrupt.

Exactly. Billionaires should not be able to purchase laws by exploiting the initiative process. The next step will be TV ads targeting urban areas and we get a new law that the folks that voted for it don't have a clue what it is about.

If conservative billionaires were doing this the backlash would be deafening.

BTW, this thread needs a title that says what it is about. I almost didn't click.

Also interesting: Two of the five board members are government employees. One is the Chief of Staff for a King County Prosecuting Attorney and the other is the Communications Director for none other than Jay Inslee.

Hey there @IOM , maybe change the thread title to "I1639 tricks" or something to better describe the thread? Just a thought to let people know what this thread is about.

Certainly, not real sure I can change the title but I'll ask one of the mods to do so...

Mod's can you change the title for a clearer definition...???
