You asked about getting a concealed handgun permit.
It pays to do a little due diligence before you take the class. $35. used to be the standard fee, but many are charging $50 or more now.
AFAIK Keith's Sporting Goods in Gresham is still offering $35 class.

You may also want to check out getting a Utah concealed permit because they have a reciprocal agreement with 35 states.

I didn't see you mention what state you're in, if Oregon, you need to go through the Sheriff's Office of whatever county you're in. The wait, due to backlog of applications, varies by counties, Multnomah being the longest wait.

I don't know about Washington's requirements. However the sooner you get rolling, the sooner you can carry and avoid a lot of the stupid restrictions on transporting weapons.

What Oregon needs is a good preemption law to shut down the traps of the liberal cities.
