How Much Is Your PGE Electric Bill and Useage?

My wife thinks we have an electricity use problem. Our last bill was $332 and we used 1803 kwh. Our condo is about 1200 sq ft and uses electricity for everything, no natural gas. Does this usage seem high? We do not own any electric cars.

I am interested in the usage for those who use electricity for everything (home heating, water heater, clothes dryer etc).

I doubt we are supporting electrical usage outside of our four walls but wife thinks it's a remote possibility. To confirm this we are going to try unplugging everything and see if our meter is still showing a draw.

Our condo is 1600 sq ft and combined gas electric (Avista) for Dec was $82 and Jan was $96
Worst month last summer running the AC at 74 deg. Was $128

You didn't miss it. I think you have to listen to podcast to hear why. I am guessing inflation and the man induced climate change hoax is why. We don't have much choice unless you can survive on solar, etc.

You can do equal pay, you pay same amount every month, PGE looks over I think twice a yr adjust accordingly, if you use less bill goes down. We have been on equal pay for 20 yrs. We don't use electricity for every thing, our house is 1300 Sq ft. I strongly recommend you get on equal pay.

The low income rate breaks just transfer the cost onto the paying customers, meaning rates go up. The Government guarantees the utilities a "fair" profit, so the money the poor don't have to pay has to be paid from those who don't qualify for a break.

Think about it. A household in "poverty" gets government subsidized housing, and EBT card, and other taxpayer-paid subsidies. Because most of the subsidized housing is all-electric, the ratepayers get to subsidize that, too! There is a tax on your phone (landline and cell) to subsidize the "underprivileged" so they can have phones, too.

Computers and other electronics, including "wall warts" draw a surprising amount of power, even when the device is not in use.

I looked through our usage history back to 2018/2019 time frame and saw some other 1800kwh months in each of those years, almost always winter time but there were some 1700ish months in the summer months. I am going to say it's just an issue of heating and cooling. Not much we can do except turn the stats down in the winter and up in the summer. We based board heat and portable ACs.

Wife wants to investigate insulation upgrades, if that involves me spending much time in crawlspace or attic that will be sad for me.

That does seem high. Verifying there isn't a pirate is smart.
Looong time ago I knew a guy that'd break any and all laws.. his favorite was he invariably stole electricity, going through common walls, whatever was necessary. I'm sure he's dead now.

I looked back to my wife's earliest winter usage from Dec 2016. She had a 1900+kwh month and that was before we got married and I moved in. She is actually saving money on electric usage having me around

I think 1800kwh is a lot of usage. I just looked at my December bill (first I could find) and it was 366kWh. I do nothing at all to reduce my usage. Granted, my house is gas heated but still... Lots of stove/microwave/space heater use.

My last bill was 1030kwh. 3 bedroom house and a 32by28 garage with living quarters above it. In both heat is electric. Stove and hot water are gas. I would definitely be checking your insulation

Water heaters are traditionally the biggest energy users.

Funny! but I am using a clothes line now after my drier broke again.

Math is funny over here too. my lowest bill? $82.80 Usage? -82 kWh. (yes negative 82) Gave back more than I used, still $82.80.

I'm running 3 freezers, a 7hp air compressor, milling machine, lathe, welder an other various tools daily along with other household power items an I average 110 a month.. hunting season around 140 but the meat locker runs from Sept until Nov mostly non stop with all of families critters an fall butchering of sheep.
