I usually respond with, "Motherf***er, you got some G**D*** nerve! Use your little b**** a** car!"

My variation on this one is :

Dude..you have a tilt /box trailer ?
Yes I do.
Can I borrow it this weekend ??
No, I am using it.
Can I use it after you are done ?
No the trailer is full.
Can I use the box trailer to store some stuff in for a couple weeks ?
No, I said it was full.
Sorry about that wiring, I will come help YOU fix it next week.
Yeah, right. F you.

I quit loaning my stuff out a long time ago. MY car trailer and box was brought back with

1. The light and brake wires pulled out of the plug and the brake drums.
2. The fenders were bent.
3. One of the tires was ground to nothing.
4. You did not bother to grease the bearings after a 350 mile run.
5. You broke the jack stand off.
6. You scratched the paint off the fenders.

Suv + trailer imo.

I see this combination working well for a lot of people. I used my Explorer and a 12 foot box trailer and an 8 foot open trailer for a while. Right at the top end of you should do with an Explorer, but was an economical application as long as you were realistic about the weight you are hauling.

I tow an 18 foot tilt trailer and box trailer with my F250 Powerstroke now. Thinking about putting a canopy on it, but have a cross bed tool box in it. If I put a canopy on it, then I would have to get up in the bed to get sh*t out, and that train left the station a long time ago.

Do you mean the new ones, or all Tacomas?

Hard to say. The older one's were notorious for the frames literally rusting completely through. Then the next gens had terrible towing capacity and were basically meant for buying groceries and looking cool. And the new ones are fugly beyond belief and WAY overpriced for what you get. BTW, I also own a 2002 4Runner (wife drives it) and have been really impressed with the truck.

And why does Ford and Toyota feel the need to stamp the model name into the tailgate? Really?

You may not like the Tacomas, but to give them a thumbs down would be like someone saying the AK platform sucks because, they prefer the AR. Mine tows 6500 lbs and will get me in (and back out) anywhere I want to go in any weather. My only complaint is the mpg, but it is still perfect for my needs.

And turning a super duty on a narrow logging road is a beoch. Then again, so is towing 8000 lbs with a non-turbo v6.

I'm glad you like it.

But ..but the salesperson and the spec sheet says it will do it with no problem.

I see this happening all the time. My F 250 Powerstroke works hard enough pulling my 6500# 23 foot travel trailer. Stops is real nice, pulls it over the Santiam at 60 mph. Lets see a V6 do that and keep the transmission in it more than 10K.

They also get bad mileage. A friend of mine has one. My F350 gets better mileage in mixed driving. I'm not kidding. My F350 gets 12-13. That Tacoma gets 10 if he's lucky.
