Just to toss in another comment from the peanut gallery:

I have a CB in my truck, I have my GMRS license and am currently prepping for the HAM license exam. On road trips, I find "car to car" is better with CB than with a handheld GMRS.

In the area I hunt, most of the hunters still have CBs in their trucks. But when they get out on foot, they go to FRS/GMRS. I don't know about HAM because I'm not there yet.

I did get a handheld CB radio a few years back and it worked fine for about a mile. But it went thru batteries like crazy! Now when the wife and I are up in the hills and leaving the truck, we have Midland GMRS radios on each of us.
