Last year I finished "Re-Sporterizing" a 1903 similar to yours. Started out in much better condition (no rust and few rounds through it). Carved a new stock for it and bedded it in Devcon. Trigger was reworked to perfection in the first sporterization.

All in all, the rifle is worth about $350, even with all this work. Unless you have a real late model, high serial number, the value in 1903's is for collectors. Otherwise, a sporterized 1903 is one of those rifles that you can start out with a $150 gun show purchase, put several hundred dollars into it in new barrel, Scope, Trigger Work, and Stock, and in the end have a rifle worth not much more than the starting value.

If it shoots OK, shoot it. If you want a fancier rifle, go buy a new Remington. They aren't a lot different today.
