It seems we are both right, in part. Your marking example of COVID19 was only valid because you have the 19 included. COVID or SUCKITGOV , other jab or humorous serial won't fly without a number in the series. Also they will check the database for duplicate serial numbers.

It's a combination of maker and serial number. I know there's more than one SN 01 out there because I have three SN01's with different makers marks depending on what trust or individual they were filed under. Point is they aren't all that restrictive. Letters and numbers or just numbers. They don't care as long as theres a number attached.

You mean like this? Quietest .22 I own. By a longshot. You still have to do something but yeah its not terribly difficult to convert a "solvent trap" into a working silencer.
