I'm just south of the airport and there was ash all night long. Made the mistake of having the fan in the window, as usual, and what ever would fit through the screen did. I set a piece of paper out and the ash had stopped so I got the blower out and did the cars, boat cover, deck, walks, deck chairs and table. Now it's coming down again. So that's just one MORE thing to deal with on top of the piles of food garbage in the grocery store parking lot across the street, the three homeless people's motor homes, with accompanying vehicles, trailers, building materials and assorted trash. Portland has reached a height of ugly that hasn't been seen yet, and Oregon is trying for the same!

I'm pretty POed at that punk juvenile and his parents right now!

Go park your camper in the store parking lot and see what happens lol they will tow it away and charge you for it but if you say your a homeless drug addict you can park where you want lol start fire's dump you waste so on and so on

If you have a nice car wash it off as soon as possible it will destroy your paint don't wipe it off it will scuff your paint

Oh yeah, I'm a car detailing freak and it is killing me to have it on my Navigator. For situations like these I use a soap gun, let the soap work at it for a couple minutes and then hose it off really good.

It's not worth doing a whole wash as it will be all over it again in a few hours.

Once all these fires are over with I will be giving my Navigator a clay bar, polish, sealant and a wax.

Another heads up to everyone, if you are in the areas where it has been really smokey and you have lots of ash.

It would be a good idea once this is all over to change your cars Air Filter.

Lol yep I don't have really nice cars so mine just get the hose but up here we not getting lots of ash just smoke mostly e

Ash in Vancouver just sucks for us with asthma.

Even with an inhaler I can only take half breaths.

Air Filtration ... Personal ... Objective ... Narrative ...

Good luck finding proper high quality air filters for your car truck or home A/C. I am wondering why this is so. Yellowstone preparations by Federal No Name Agencies? Might be a good idea to find and buy some good automotive, (not cheap knock offs) engine air cleaners ..... PLUS, (if you can find them) some good factory or authorized automotive A/C air filters.

Awhile back we managed to find some Pacific Rim Australian dusty outback or possibly African oversize overrated big air cleaners for our Suzuki Jeeps. Same for the automotive A/C filters. Our Carrier home A/C had oversize HEPA filters available at one time. I wonder how big smoke particles are compared to fine volcanic ash sizes? Be some good research.

Way way back in about 1979 Bakersfield CA had the mother of all dust storms. Lasted 3 days. A series of rare meteorological events. One hundred mile per hour winds. The Western USA ran out of truck air cleaners for large Detroit Diesel powered trucks. All of them went to the fire apparatus that used that type and model air cleaner. We dusted out some apparatus.

The air cleaners were not designed for dust storms. Specification failure. We firefighters had to do careful maintenance trying to knock out the dust so the dry type element could be used over. Failed. Once clogged, they remained clogged. The Detroits barely ran. We were very busy those three days. At least diesel engine required a top end overhaul. Dusted.

My point? Consider during a major SHTF situation, we probably will experience ten times what we are enduring right now with fires and smoke. No infrastructure around to fight wildfires. That plus potential terrorist activity which probably would include starting thousands of fires nationwide. Just a heads up regarding prepping. Do not forget the gas masks either.

Back in 2001 or so the smoke from the Florence/Biscuit fire was so bad one night I tried sleeping wearing a gas mask. Failed. The mask required too much effort to breathe through while sleeping. Too much restriction. Another subject to research. A personal air filtration system that can be worn at night. Non electric. High efficiency. Easy to use. Filters everything.

Respectfully.

My youngest daughter suffers from it also but she is being a trooper. We are also pretty use to the snow, ice, no power, and fire so we prep pretty hard and coast through the rough stuff.

I did however make sure to make my "FEMA Help" me sign.

Now they are saying that it is approaching Multnomah Falls since the big blowup last night. The parents of that eight year old that set off the fireworks need to find a hickory stick.

Interesting though, just a couple days ago Lars Larson was complaining about the State of Oregon dropping the ball by refusing to invest in two new aerial tankers.
So Kate.....hows about sending all those illegal implants that you love so much up there with a shovel ?

Not me, but not far off one of my posts. Seems the retards don't understand the concept of "multi-thousand-acre firestorms require more than 3000-gallon (which for reference is ONE tip-tank on an old tall-tail B-52!) capacity" and won't authorize anything above that line...

Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe the operator made enemies, or didn't grease the right Clinton Crime Family Crony palms.
