I'm glad the chief seems to have been educated about the danger.

To the average person, it sounds much worse than the actual danger: "Neighbor Samantha Green, who lives next door, said it was loud. "(It sounded) like World War III," Green said. "It went on for several minutes."

Ammo didn't survive but the livestock did: "The homeowner got out his four dogs, ducks, chickens, and even the pet pig that stays in the garage out safely."

Unfortunately the paper could have assisted more with the education. Most people get their "knowledge" of how ammo reacts in fire by movies which make it seem like bullets go flying everywhere when in reality it is brass cases that go flying if anything does as there is no area to keep the gasses under compression. But of course that wouldn't make for riveting movie action.
