My Colt Series '70 in .45acp.
This was my Dad's gun and the first handgun I shot...it still is the handgun I shoot the best with and my "carry gun"...
The bottom is a Pachmayr .22LR Conversion on a GI frame...its a fun gun to shoot.

Thank you Medic!
They are well loved and have been shot a lot....Many folks have learned to shoot with that conversion unit and have enjoyed "moving up" to Colt in .45acp...:D

That's a good way to do it.

I went through Army and Navy basic training.
And that's how they taught us to shoot the 1911 .45 ACP. In the Navy.

With a .22 version first. :s0114:

I picked up the 1902 from a member on this site. I'm still looking for the elusive Colt 1900 as well as a 1902 Sporting, 1903 Pocket Hammer, Model 1908 in .380, Model 1905 (first one in .45ACP) and of course a 1911. Sadly my wallet isn't as large as my ambitions. But I keep looking around especially on GunBroker. I can usually afford one per year.

I still have the Generals 1903 I showed earlier this year in another thread.
A museum contacted me and they want to buy it.

I told them I was enjoying it. And didn't need the money right now but thanks.
Maybe my fortunes will hold out and they can have the little gun when I pass?

Colt Government Model made in 1949 with a Colt .22 Conversion Kit featuring a "floating chamber" that increases recoil to more closely simulate the recoil of .45 ACP, designed by David Marshall "Carbine" Williams. Williams also designed the short-stroke piston gas system used in the M1 Carbine.

And all of them were designed by one man.

Browning also designed the .38 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol), .32 ACP, .25 ACP, and .45 ACP cartridges used by the pistols.

I've had many Colt's thru the years. This is the only one that remains, and ironically I've never shot it.

I own other non-Colt 1911's, and although they're not as gorgeous as the Colt, I shoot them regularly.:D

Well, I had this one...

Here it is with the 1964 National Match I had for a while and the Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail I still have.

I will have to dig my wife's grandfather's 1908 Pocket Hammerless out and snap a pic or two.

IMG_0374.JPG IMG_0375.JPG Just the one, and it's for sale, I'm going all in with TDA's with decockers. It's an early '90's 1991A1. Haven't had it long, but have completely overhauled it, about the only things left that are still Colt is the barrel, frame, & slide. Nice shooter, but my recently acquired CZ 97 BD shoots better and softer, at least for me. Anyway, enough blather ;).
