"Right now it's off Appropriation's calendar. They have one more scheduled meeting this year - it's Thursday.

This bill has to get through Appropriations prior to midnight Friday to be passed this year. They have one more scheduled meeting.

So, you can relax some when it doesn't come up for a vote on Thursday. You can relax almost all the way when it hasn't been voted on by Appropriations by midnight Friday.

You can throw a party on September 1 when the legislature adjourns and it hasn't been passed.

And, thanks to everyone for the hard work and phone calls. If we beat this bill in this year in this state then it shows the power we have, even here!

But then again it is still on the committee calendar Hearings | Committee on Appropriations
So it is not over until Friday at midnight CA can still lose their 2A rights

The California "assault weapon" ban applies only to centerfire rifles.

According to the wording it included some handguns too.

EDIT: never mind I believe what they had written was already the current law, not the amended part was reading to fast.
