It makes me genuinely sad that there are people out there that campaign to not only ensure others enslavement, but their own.

That there are people out there who would craft laws that instead of better society as a whole, and ensure futher freedom for the individual, seek to punish their ideological opponents.

I wish someone who could get media attention would point out that these anti gun activists only seem to be interested in pushing new laws which in practice, only functions to restrict and punish law abiding gun owners. There is absolutely 0 interest in measures that would physically prevent school shootings, such as metal detectors, restrict access to certain entrances which you must be buzzed into during school hours, an armed guard or resource officer, and permission for teachers to carry if they are sufficiently trained. They are not interested in any of these things, not even in the MEANTIME while they campaign to further restrict firearms, which even if that were the answer, takes time and has people opposing it. The measures I mentioned, if the anti gunners were actually concerned more with school safety instead punishing gun owners, would be a something we could get behind because it actually would work.

I just want to ask one of these people..You have made it clear over and over what an epidemic this is and how everyday kids are in danger, and your number 1 concern is their safety. If thats the case, doesnt it make sense to actually PHYSICALLY prevent it from happening? Is all these talking points like "teachers are there to teach not kill" "we dont want our schools to look like prisons" ect.. all of which amount to "i dont like the optics of metal detectors and guards at school, its not ideal" really a good enough reason to decide to not do what we KNOW would LITERALLY stop school shootings. Then our kids are safe, and you dont have to sacrifice your civil rights to make it happen, win/win right? No, of course you dont want to do that.

And whats even more telling is, even if your convinced that further gun control is the 100% iron clad solution to the problem, you know thats gonna take at least some amount of time to push through into law.. and you STILL don't want to physically protect the schools, even during that interim while your passing your life saving gun control.

Like really guys? the optics of having a couple metal detectors on school campus is just SOOOO unreasonable and soooo horrifying that you would rather do nothing.

To any individual who is even somewhat reasonable, the gun control advocate seems to be much more interested in getting a win for their side and punishing their ideological opponents than preventing school shootings. We know how to prevent school shootings, we will be here waiting to do just that, whenever you are ready guys!

Yup. This group of people is about Emotions, Memes, and Pictures. Everyday they hop online to look at the "news" where they get emotionally jerked off by Emotions, Memes, and Pictures. And the cycle of outrage stars all over again.

At their core, this is a group of people that does not love this Country. They do not believe we live in an exceptional place. They believe America is a dark place with a sordid history, founded by and exploited by criminals. And they want to fundamentally change it.

IMO these miserable "activists" whose entire lives are consumed by politics and outrage are definitely not interested in hearing "antiquated" Renaissance philosophies about Natural Rights, Liberty, and Self-Determination. These people are SOCIALISTS, and their ultimate aim is to create a giant bureaucracy where the lazy intellectual elite can sit at the top and dole out the goodies as they see fit, without ever having to compete for a dime.

Ironically, on December 8, 2015, Justices Clarence Thomas dissented SCOTUS' refusal to hear a challenge to Highland Park, Illinois, "assault weapons" ban, contending that the commonly-owned rifles meet the threshold for Second Amendment protections. His dissent was joined by Justice Antonin Scalia.

The New York Times quoted Thomas: "Roughly five million Americans own AR-style semiautomatic rifles. The overwhelming majority of citizens who own and use such rifles do so for lawful purposes, including self-defense and target shooting. Under our precedents, that is all that is needed for citizens to have a right under the Second Amendment to keep such weapons."

That's the gist I've been getting this morning. Still, it's fun to see Murphy go ape-sh1t over the guy. Even if he's no more pro-gun than Scalia or Thomas, he's good for us. My focus at this point is scooping up whats left of the rational. However many folks are left out there who are able to be swayed by reason, and logic. For those Americans out there who are able to still engage in empiricism, we must throw out a line to those folks.

We can take all the actions in the world and we won't be able to stop crazy people. Metal detectors, buzzing people in will only mean the shooters will take their action outside of the school, places where people congregate like waiting for the buses. I like all the measures mentioned above, and we should take them. But they won't totally eliminate the problem.
The other issue with locking doors and buzzing people in is that the kids that do this stuff are students in the school and more than likely would have been buzzed in anyway.
I don't know what the solution is, but taking away guns isn't it.

Pence is the tie breaker and there are some rural democrats to the right of Collins up for reelection. Will be interesting and close.
