I have no position on the content of the story (I dont spout off when I dont know enough facts to do so unlike others). I only posted because I found the fathers flashing of his Molon Labe tattoo amusing and something some on here might like to see.

What it has to do with firearms is they did a close up of what looked like and H&K M4 lower, actually what was left of it. ROE has been a frustration of warriors for decades. I agree with them being angry about there being no pre-assault barrage. Napoleon IIRC said that Artillery was the God of War. He is right, artillery fire is very demoralizing in addition to destructive. Close Air support, same, same. I think there are questions that need to be answered in a loss of this magnitude.

ROE in that particular AO was flat retarded. A convoy was hit with a small command wire IED, they had PID on the douchebag goat farmer that triggered it. He was running away with an RPG slung over his back. The convoy was not allowed to shoot at him and he escaped to do it again, another day.

It was a constant battle to get anything done. They even put out, at one point, that no .50 cal was to be fired near the villages, because collateral damage could be too great...that was largely ignored.
