Looks like Betsy will cave like the rest.

They all play politics eventually to some degree, but she's still the last best hope for Oregon gun owners. And the fact that the Dems have already started their smear campaign against her shows their desperation. Their video basically reminds me of all the reasons I support her!

Notice how they skew the editorial by saying:

"Betsy Johnson, a former longtime Democratic lawmaker, is running for governor as an unaffiliated candidate. Johnson is a gun collector and has consistently opposed gun safety regulations in the Legislature, including expanded background checks and a red flag law."

Not "gun control regulations" which is what it really is. Saying it in this manner makes her look worse than it otherwise would.

It is pretty clear the message being sent is: "Evil woman! she does not care about our safety! do not vote for her."
Please note that support on the Left for guns has grown dramatically in the last two years. It's the most ardently Socialist ones who still see them as a threat to more control. Riots and Defunding the Police have a way of opening one's eyes to reality… I actually see the Dems smear tactics backfiring and driving more moderate voters toward Johnson!

My only reason to vote for Betsy would be her stance on our firearm freedoms. It worries me that she is already waffling on that. I would like to see the numbers of where she is expecting to get the votes from. I suspect most of the antis are going to stay firm with Kotek. That will necessitate that Betsy pull in a bunch of votes from elsewhere.
She's also fiscally conservative, anti-CoViD mandates, pro law and order, against overregulation of small businesses, and doesn't want to end Constitutional rights for those who disagree with her. These are NO SMALL THING!

Oops…. That's what I get for "morning groggy" posting….

dunno where I got 400k votes, must've conflated the vote tally for Ron Wyden (who actually lives in NYC with his wife) in my brain….

In either event, we're proper flocked…. but we can always "hope".
There are slightly over one million registered Democrat voters in Oregon. If Kotex got 300k in the primary when all was said and done, that leaves a potential 700k+ that could vote for Johnson! The key to electing Johnson is getting party line Republicans to WAKE UP!

Haven't done my research yet and I didn't vote for drazon but what's wrong with her? Why is everyone so pro Betsy? She was just a dem not to long ago
It's been said that no republican would ever be elected Governor in Oregon. At least not in these times. I tend to believe that's true. Oregon has gone so, crazy far left. You saw the map above? That's why a lot of us believe Betsy Johnson has the best chance to get there. I like Drazen fine. I'd take anyone that wasn't democrat if they had a snowballs chance in hell. I'd vote for Fred J Muggs, if he had a chance, over any democrat the way things are here.

Registered voters by party , March 2022
Dems; 34.36%

Reps; 24.39%-and dropping (many are leaving the State)

Non-affiliated; 34.46%-officially outnumbering Dems registered voters

Minor Parties/Other; 6.80%-includes Constitution, Green, Socialist, and other small Parties.

The above is why the Dems are so afraid of Betsy; she has a good chance of pulling significant number of voters from both the Dems and the Non-Affiliated bloc, even if she doesn't get any Republican support.

Edit. If the Republicans voted enbloc like the Dems usually does; there's still not enough to topple the Dems if they do not get the support of the Non Affiliated voters.

So the game is to paint Kotek in a light that makes the Normies shizz themselves, then remind them that "hey, there's a third player in this game if you can't stand Drazan"... Betsy needs to quit me-tooing and start drawing bright lines between herself and the two Despicable Harpies, and market along the lines of "if you hate either of these two but can't bring yourself to vote for the other, give me a look."

I've met her - she was the only rep in the House that met with us on a push for Alzheimer's funding and support. The rest were Dems and blew us off. So I like her for that. That said, her resistance waned to gun legislation because she was eyeing a run here. Betsy is firmer in her positions and has no f's to give.

It would be best if Betsy can get enough groundswell and win, but we'll see. The sensible approach will be for her and others how to highlight she's a sensible Democrat that will bring Oregon back to traditional Democratic values and not the destructive leftist policies. Republicans/Conservatives that try to sell her as more conservative than Drazen are just going to sabotage her with Dems that need to be swayed.

But we have a LOT of stupid conservatives in this state, so it's a risk.

Things like "He/She is a TRUE conservative with TRUE conservative values!"
I cringe every time I see or hear that statement. I got news for all ya'll boys and girls! Many, MANY, of the people you want to vote your way are not full on to the right/Republican! Read those numbers above and see those that can't bear to go with either faction because they are too far into the others business.
Dammit all to hell. Don't screw this up again!

Don't get me wrong. When I hear the word "Liberal" applied to things/people any more it makes me want, terribly, to puke beer and Taco Dorito's all over one or more of them. So my disgust in all this is for both sides.

For those who may have received an email from OFF stating that "She (Johnson) has promised to enforce a ban on 'assault weapons' and magazines", please note that this statement wasn't worded very carefully. This does not mean that she will support this kind of legislation if it comes across her desk as Governor, or that she is favorable of such bans. It means that if the People of Oregon pass a ballot initiative with these bans that she won't refuse to enforce it. This is a very important distinction to make! Furthermore, I asked OFF for their source of information where she made that statement and have not heard back, so I can't say for certain that she even said that at all…

OFF's email also links another article which states that "Johnson wouldn't commit to supporting a ban on semi-automatic weapons or a ban on high capacity magazines". The full article is linked below.

UPDATE: It sounds like the video in the article linked above may be OFF's source of Johnson's remark about enforcing whatever Oregon voters may pass as a ballot initiative. I have not watched it yet to confirm.

Well, I'm glad to see that Johnson got on the ballot, but it appears that her campaign is falling short. I'll be watching the polls closely right to the end, and I'll likely vote Drazen if Johnson's numbers don't improve. Can't risk Kotex getting in office at all costs!
