AP Poll: Support grows among Americans for stricter gun laws

Yes its true a new poll that shows more folks want to ban the evil AR15 and all "assault weapons" after the police shootings.

WOW Yes the same old BS but my main question is concerning the following statement.

"The AP-GfK Poll of 1,009 adults was conducted online using a sample drawn from GfK's probability-based KnowledgePanel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population."

Well let's see there are around 310 million plus folks in the US and according to the census there are around 237 plus millions folks over the age 18 (voting age) yet they contact 1009 folks in their panel and that is designed to be representative of the U.S. population.

1009 out of 237 plus million voting age folks can sway public opinion on gun issues or anything else for that matter.

I understand sample rate and how polls work but it seems that the last batch of polls on elections and on other issues have not been what I would call reliable.

So my question to you is do you feel polls for the most part truly represent the American public and do the numbers they state about gun owners in your mind represent the average gun owner. Remember not you but the average gun owner.

It depends on how the question is asked. Also the previous
questions asked. Poles can be skewed to produce the results
wanted by those paying for the poll.
Majority of the sheepel have no idea what is an
"Assault Rifle". But they know they are bad.:eek:

"...Huebner believes the Second Amendment gives Americans the right to protect themselves against the government, but not necessarily the right to possess any firearm they choose, especially when it comes to AR-platform long guns. Those types of firearms, she said, "just are not necessary. Nobody is using them to hunt deer."

She is partially correct, "nobody" (percentage wise) is using them to hunt deer...hmmm let me think on what other use they might have?

They always bring up the "Hunting" card, even though they have some idea of why the 2nd amendment was put in place they still don't fully understand that it's not about hunting. If the general public is armed it allows them to have a fighting chance against tyranny, in a more logical world firearms saftey would be taught in school instead of making it a taboo subject.

Ask 1009 people in Boston and a different 1009 people in any small town, or rural area, and you'll get very different answers. The big error that the pollsters and the media keep making is they believe that folks in big cities represent the views of the whole country.

That depends on the State in Idaho as there is no restriction on caliber and the AR15 is very popular on deer for new shooters for its low recoil. Remember its shot placement that takes game not caliber.

But I do agree percentage wise you are correct but I think that is even changing with so many new factory calibers in the platform now available plus all the wild cats.

This primary season alone has shown how unreliable polls can be. So many polls showed different results than what actually happened that I'm surprised people even believe them any more - well, except, of course when they bolster their particular point of view.

Its an AP poll for heaven's sake. The AP is a direct mouthpiece for the DNC! Their job is to convince the low information crowd of the progressive/socialist's view of "truth". JMHO.

For years we were told drinking water before strenuous work was bad for you and most people believed it. A poll based on bad information is worthless. They always speak on the AR15 and not the round it fires. Not that they actually care since it is rarely used in murders.

I have participated in their polls before... When the results start to backfire on them, they simply reword the question so all the votes against gun control are then scored as votes for gun control and the poll then reflects as their agenda... Only liberal media could be that corrupt

"drawn from GfK's probability-based KnowledgePanel," This does not sound like a great sampling method, people who have been put on the pollster's own panel? Hardly unbiased or random.
We can no longer assume mathematicians, scientists, etc. are practicing impartiality (as the scientific method they are supposedly bound to; it's like doctors practicing medicine without the Hippocratic Oath). Somebody has the desired answer for the right price, and will use whatever jargon to make it look legit.
Question everything!

the average person believes that news source are educational and a great way to learn the PC answers to life's problems-----the people are starting to wake up and with the left being discredited by such as wikileaks and other hackers, we may have a chance to gain ground

The "deer hunting" angle has nothing to do the the 2A, but they are wrong. There are several cartridges that can be used in an AR-15 platform that are very effective for deer. - 300 blackout, either of the 6.5 mm cartridges, 458 SOCOM for starters. The AR-10 by default already uses the most popular deer hunting cartridge.

Remember the Coke vs Pepsi challenge back in the day! How many of us voted for Coke? but Pepsi supposedly won? All true 'Mericans know you don't mix Rum and Pepsi, You mix Rum and Coke, That's why you call it a Rum and Coke! Yea, poles really reflect the peoples thinking, NOT
