Any Sage Rat Reports?

I'm looking at my calendar and wanting to take my two son's for their first rat trip in a week or so. I'm fairly familiar with the Christmas Valley area but can never get the timing just right. I'm not looking for honey holes but more say K Falls, Prineville, CV etc.

Lots of sage rats and even more field mice. I made a drown trap and caught 9 last night.

I wanted to spend some time with my sister's husband and their two oldest but wasn't sure what to do with them. As they're about the right age, shooting sage rats sounds like a great idea. Is there any within an hour or two of the Salem area? The places I go generally don't have them.

Is sage rat and whistle pig interchangeable?

If so I wouldn't think they'd be anywhere west of the cascades.

Whistle pigs are rock chucks, at least that's what I've always heard. Sage rats are sometimes called Squeaks.

Not trying to hijack but was wondering ... Are Dinsdale's still letting guys on to hunt or do you need to knock on doors? I'd even consider drop a few bucks for a good day of shooting.

Cool, now I finally know. I've heard it a few times over the years. A couple weeks ago some friends and I were talking about chucks and that term came up, we just accepted that it was a colloquial for chucks.
