There were folks actually arrested for hoarding food in that time. Further research will show that the APL was quite large; if I remember right it peaked at 250,000 members. It was all but officially fully sanctioned by the Wilson Administration.

Yeah Wilson was a bad bad dude. Initiated extensive spying on american citizens and bent the constitution. Little thing called the Red Scare: false flag operations and assassinations, the Palmer raids, the Sedition Act, all to keep the rabble in line. Illegal deportations, extensive and serious violations of the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th Amendments. The Media eagerly went along with it too. He also revived the KKK. Same old story, it all boils down to getting us to fight amongst ourselves so the elite and the banks can keep on with business as usual.
