Currently if you block/ignore someone it not only hides their content from you, it also hides your content from them. It should not do this, if they do not wish to see your content they have a block/ignore button of their own. If your content is hidden from them it can make it more difficult for them to continue participating in conversations that other people are having on the topic, as they will be missing half the context of that conversation. This allows someone to fragment small sections of the community without the consent of other members by making certain conversations almost entirely opaque to the blocked member. This should not be a possible function of the block/ignore feature, and for this reason I think that that feature should be one way only. If you block/ignore someone you will not see their content, but they will still have full visibility of yours. They will still be able to quote and interact with that content in order to participate in the conversation with other members, but you will not be alerted to or see any of that content (including not being able to see their quotes by other members, just as it works now). This would reduce the power of the ignore button to fragment the community and would reduce the impact on the blocked user.

For those that like not seeing the content of those that have ignored them, there could be an "automatically ignore back" option on the user profile that would maintain the current functionality.

Is there a way to see who/how many have you blocked?

I've never blocked anyone but have been sorely tempted a time or two.
I believe that there is a way, indirectly. One can view the website without logging in. Then you're not "you" and you can view everyone's posts.

Sobo did say "no less than", so maybe he just knows of five. I thought maybe there was a way to pull up a list, but probably not.

Yes. See quoted post first below... 👇

Yes, indirectly, that is an available method - either not logged in to the site or using an "incognito" browser. However, these methods do not work for viewing blocked content on the paid membership side of the site. If one is not logged in, then one cannot access that side. Hence, any person ignoring you that posts on the paid membership side, you still won't see them/their content.

Yes, I have been able to determine just 5 at the current time. There may be more, as mentioned above, that I cannot ascertain since they are posting on the paid membership side, and one must log out to determine who they are. But that method does not work on the paid membership side. There is no list that is available.

Nope, he just knows a few by checking periodically.
Correct, as far as the unpaid side of the site goes. Like @lucusloc, I get annoyed when the conversation falls into non sequitors, so I'll check the post count. When I see a break in the post count, if it's not on the paid membership side of the site, I'll log out just to see who it is, satisfy my insatiable curiosity. It's usually one of the five mentioned above, although one of those five is a new one that I just discovered last week. It's a member that has been here since long before I joined in 2016. I have no idea who they are or why they would block me, as I have never interacted with this individual at any time. The other four I know of are rabid liberals who apparently do not care for my political views when I post in the political threads. As far as that and their feelz go, phuq 'em...

Click your screen name on the upper right. An extensive menu will pop up. On the lower right of the menu, you will see Follow and Ignore. Click the Ignore.

Edit: Beat by sobo.
I have zero people blocked as per the method you describe, yet curiously I still have gaps in some of my threads. Now why would that be?

I think you missed my pointed sarcasm there.
Evidently so...

...but I get it now, so...

I will say one thing, this thread got me to start clicking on everything to figure out the features of this forum, who runs it, etc. It's funny how you forget to do such things, and just suffer with the stock settings.

As far as block / ignore....
Speaking only for myself :

At the end of the day does it really matter if someone has me blocked / ignored...?
Nope....what they do , how or what they think...ain't going to affect me...or wreck my day.

Same for if I have someone blocked or ignored...
They are still going to do as they do...my blocking or ignoring them ain't going to change any damn thing.

More often than not....what some folks post here that I find disagreeable is in most cases a ....
Big So What..?
Same for "missing out" on a post if I can't read it...So what..?

With that said...
I am not saying that certain things do not bother me or get under my skin....
'Cause they do.
It is just that I don't like being controlled...and if I let what someone posted bother me....
Then...is it what they posted that bothers me....or that I allow it to bother me...?

In any event....
If......More folks posted while following forum rules...then this really wouldn't be an issue at all.
