In 2012 I was hauling the helibase communications trailer to my first fire, at Taylor Bridge near Cle Elum. The fire started during some welding work by a WDOT crew and quickly got away and ran over the hill. As I was driving up from Ellensburg toward Cle Elum, a huge DC10 tanker was working the grasslands where electrical lines etc were. The danged thing was soooo big it looked like it was floating in the air. He got down real low tho and it appeared to be dropping a huge load of retardant.

The clouds we're supposed to be getting on thursday and the chance of drizzle. And the clouds at the Chetco Bar fire. But rain alone won't stop these huge fires.

I used to spend lots of time back packing some times an area that burnt still had some smoking stumps after winter.

I could only guess but the one where they drop the foam on the truck burning I would guess it had some sort of hazmat or explosive 's and they didn't want to get close to it but it's pretty awesome
