It's only a misdemeanor for the first offense...and it is a charge for each gun, not transaction.

Scaring ourselves silly over something that isn't going to happen is a paranoid waste of time. No one's going to do a "sting operation" to net a misdemeanor conviction over 594.

594 has yet to have, as far as I know, a single prosecution.

Don't want to get busted? Don't break the law. If you want to break the law, I'd suggest not selling to a random stranger, and more importantly, not being involved in other activities that put you on the cops' radar. Even anti-gun CPs are shrugging their shoulders over this law because it's largely unproveable without investing vastly more manpower and money into a misdemeanor conviction than it's worth.
