Hi,

I am looking into reloading for .223 someday. When the price and availability comes down (hey, I can think positive vibes on price at least), what is a good deal for your basic 55gr .224 jacketed projectiles for plinking/range fodder?

Looking for price per bullet in bulk pricing....

Do you guys recall buying 1K bullets and how much shipped to your castle?

Thanks!

I can't remember what I last paid because it's been so long. I will wish you luck though when you do start to reload. I've been trying to find bulk .223 now for 6 months.

As I recall, I had some Hornady 50 gr SP delivered to my house for $103.00 for 1K shipped a year and a half ago. I think the 55 gr SP were about the same price. I also recently (within the past 12 months ordered in 1K Hornady 55 gr Z-Max bullets for about $120 + shipping from MidSouth Shooters Supply.

If I remember right last year Wideners had the Hornady .224 55gr FMJBT 6,000 bulk packs last year in the $475-ish range (shipping included). Regular price range was 500-525

55gr pulled bullets were around a tad lower than that.

62gr green tips were around $80 per 1k

Did some more research. It looks like bulk pull downs have ranged anywhere from 6-8 cents a piece. This puts it at anywhere from $60-$80 per 1k. I think that I will wait. Right now, the going price is $100-$125 per 1K. If I can get around $70/1K I will snatch up some. Again, this is for bulk pull down plinking ammo.
