I was wondering if anyone had a chamber iron. got a High standard that someone got happy with.
Well...you made me curious and I had to look it up, as I'd never heard of a chamber iron before. Here's a link for those curious like me...
TOM MENCK : .22 CHAMBER IRONING TOOL - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools
Good luck in your search, and a bump for ya.
Being a do it myself type , I made my own from a grade 8 ,1/4" bolt . I turned it down the size of a .22 caseing and put a bit of taper on front end . Polished it up with emery paper then heated it up nonmagnetic and quenched in oil.
I started real gentle in chamber pushing burr from striker hits and worked the metal back until iron would go in chamber . Went out and testfired and empties didnt hang up any longer nor have any bulges .
If you dont have a lathe you can use a drill press or hand drill , files and sandpaper to make an 'iron' .
