Put my Liberty Training Rifle together today. One question, what is the proper way to attach the sling?

I normally use the Uncle Mikes QD 1 1/4" swivels about 1" from the edge of the forgrip. Directly under the barrel is best. Side mount studs don't work quite as well.
On the trail sometimes we improvise with just a zip tie around the barrel.
Here's a pic of a Garand loop sling:

Edit: Different slings can be adapted to closely equal the configuration of the sling shown in the drawing. For instance, a Turner sling, an M1 Carbine web sling, and a Magpul MS-3 sling can all be used in this manner. Probably a standard AK sling too, I've just never tried it.
With the Garand sling, I run the forward loop's tail on the inside...its easier to adjust than if it were on the outside.

Yup, same here. Had a good times shooting, but it's damned disappointing when my eyesight has deteriorated to the point where I'm virtually guessing when I take my shots. I need to get my eyeglass rx filled, and then see if I can still use open sights. If I still have problems, then dammit I'm going to scope my 10/22.
but I feel like I should be able to qualify with iron sights first; seems more honorable that way.
Got home from DRRC a few hours ago. Had a good time, met some great people and learned a lot. Failed to qualify for the Rifleman patch though....

Thanks for coming out guys! It was a pleasure spending the weekend with you. Saturday was very rough for me. I was not satisfied with many aspects of the day and yet we clearly laid the correct foundation because Sunday we forged so many Rifleman. Several shooters went from not on paper to 6-8MOA groups.
