The 1911 was designed to shoot man-sized targets at pistol distances. If the target appears no wider than the front sight, it's probably too far away, and if the target is wider than the front sight, you can hit it even with a moderately accurate pistol. Who wants to do the math; what will a .125" front sight cover at 25 yards? 50 yards?

Brown, RRA, Heinie Springfield, Rogers Springfield, Colt GCNM from '71

Hold the Colt and the Rogers Springfield firmly so as the grip safety isn't moving and shake them. They both rattle. ( Maybe not like a nail filled coffee can, but....) Grab the slide and you can move it side to side and up and down. But throughout all the jiggly and shaking, the barrel stays firmly, unmovingly locked up into the slide,(and in consistent alignment with the sights). They are both very very accurate and reliable ( the Colt has an 18lb spring rather than the 14 or so it came with).

These do not rattle at all. Which is nice, but they've proved neither more accurate nor reliable when shot from sandbags....

I wont claim to be the most knowlegable on 1911's but anyone who claims that a pistol is more accurate from tighter frame fit because they tested it from a ransom rest doesn't get it....... unless you are realigning the sights each time this proves nothing exept the slide alginment it more consistant.

Humans use the sights to hit their targets which are attached to the slide not the grip.

(of course with the exeption of laser grips and frame mount optics)
