Nice (, NEESS; French pronunciation: [nis]; Nissard Occitan: Niça, classical norm, or Nissa, nonstandard, pronounced [ˈnisa]; Italian: Nizza [ˈnittsa]; Greek: Νίκαια; Latin: Nicaea) is the seventh most populous urban area in France and the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department. The metropolitan area of Nice extends beyond the administrative city limits, with a population of nearly 1 million on an area of 744 km2 (287 sq mi). Located in the French Riviera, on the south east coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Alps, Nice is the second-largest French city on the Mediterranean coast and the second-largest city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region after Marseille. Nice is approximately 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) from the principality of Monaco and 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the French-Italian border. Nice's airport serves as a gateway to the region.
The city is nicknamed Nice la Belle (Nissa La Bella in Niçard), which means Nice the Beautiful, which is also the title of the unofficial anthem of Nice, written by Menica Rondelly in 1912. The area of today's Nice contains Terra Amata, an archaeological site which displays evidence of a very early use of fire 380,000 years ago. Around 350 BC, Greeks of Marseille founded a permanent settlement and called it Nikaia, after Nike, the goddess of victory. Through the ages, the town has changed hands many times. Its strategic location and port significantly contributed to its maritime strength. For centuries it was a dominion of Savoy, and was then part of France between 1792 and 1815, when it was returned to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia until its re-annexation by France in 1860.
The natural environment of the Nice area and its mild Mediterranean climate came to the attention of the English upper classes in the second half of the 18th century, when an increasing number of aristocratic families took to spending their winters there. In 1931 following its refurbishment the city's main seaside promenade, the Promenade des Anglais ("Walkway of the English") was inaugurated by Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, and owes its name to visitors to the resort. These included Queen Victoria along with her son Edward VII who spent winters there, and Nice born Henry Cavendish, who discovered hydrogen.
The clear air and soft light have particularly appealed to notable painters, such as Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Niki de Saint Phalle and Arman. Their work is commemorated in many of the city's museums, including Musée Marc Chagall, Musée Matisse and Musée des Beaux-Arts. International writers have also been attracted and inspired by the city. Frank Harris wrote several books including his autobiography My Life and Loves in Nice. Friedrich Nietzsche spent six consecutive winters in Nice, and wrote Thus Spoke Zarathustra here. While Anton Chekov completed writing his play Three Sisters when he was living in the city.
Nice's appeal extended to the Russian upper classes, Prince Nicholas Alexandrovich, heir apparent to Imperial Russia died in Nice and was a patron of the Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Nice where Princess Catherine Dolgorukova, morganatic wife of the Tsar Alexander II of Russia, is buried. As are General Dmitry Shcherbachev and General Nikolai Yudenich leaders of the anti-Communist White Movement.
Those interred in Nice at the Cimetière du Château, include celebrated jeweler Alfred Van Cleef, Emil Jellinek-Mercedes, founder of the Mercedes car company, film director Louis Feuillade, poet Agathe-Sophie Sasserno, dancer Carolina Otero, Asterix comics creator René Goscinny, The Phantom of the Opera author Gaston Leroux, French prime minister Léon Gambetta, and the first president of the International Court of Justice José Gustavo Guerrero.
Nice has the second largest hotel capacity in the country and it is one of its most visited cities, receiving 4 million tourists every year. It also has the third busiest airport in France, after the two main Parisian ones. It is the historical capital city of the County of Nice (Comté de Nice).
Here's a good, clean magazine for the P08 German Luger. It's an extra that I used in my American Eagle before it went down the road a while back. Functioned well at the time so I assume it still does. Has an unmarked wood base and no markings on the metal portion either. Contact me with any...
Here's an above average example of the target version of the Smith & Wesson model 422. I'm not the original owner so can't give you a full history. I can say the it shows VERY few signs of usage. Comes with original plastic case with the factory grip panels, owners papers, cleaning rod and swab...
I have here an excellent, lightly used Ruger 22 LR pistol. It's all blue and has the heavy 6-7/8" bull barrel. Included is one magazine, the original box and paperwork as shown in the pictures.
Take a look and PM me if you have any questions. Excuse the dust and such in the pics.

Saying goodbye to the last of my milsurp collection. For sale is a very nice CZ-82 in 9mm Makarov with accessories. You will seldom find all of these items together for such a low price, and in such good shape. Good finish with only a couple of minor blemishes. Shiny bore. Original Czech...
This scope is nearly Mint with only a little scuff where the rings go. Hard to see when it's on a rifle. Actually, it was on a Browning 12ga shotgun, and shot exactly 23 Sabot rounds. It didn't hit anything except a target, and didn't get hit either. I'd keep it except I sold the shotgun...
First shots today out of my new Ruger 77/17WSM. Scope is Leupold 3-9x40.
Very happy with most aspects of the rifle (more in a bit) what was surprising was just how accurate it is. I got it on paper at 25yds and grouping was good. I then shot it at 100yds for zero which ended up being about an...
Up for grabs is a really nice M11-A1. I am not the original owner so I cannot estimate round count. I have sent a few hundred down range without issue. By all indications, it is fairly low mileage pistol but it has had some "work" done by a previous owner. I have done my best to highlight...
I have a very nice 300 win mag bolt action that I am want to trade for another handgun, rifle or nice shotgun let me know if anyone is interested thanks
Best info I can find on this one is it's 1 of 691 made in 1964 before the changes to the International. Although Medalists were made from 1960 to 1970, there was a change to the barrel length in 64 to make them competition eligible. Barrel went from a 6+3/4 length to 6 inches. Also, the front...
Very nice condition with box and 2 ea. 15 round magazines
I am not the original owner but judging by condition, it's got low miles. I have run approximately 150 rounds through it with no issues
It does not have the original grips but they have been replaced with a set of very handsome black...

Springfield Armory made dated to around 4/44 by serial number. All around it looks amazing. I'm sure there are people who know much more than I do, but I couldn't find a problem with it. Nicest Garand I've put my hands on.
Priced to sell $1.600...

I have 2 30rd 7.62x39 flatbacks that need a new home. One is pretty much mint [aside from black marker dates] while the other shows normal wear from use and a very minor amount of freckling in the blued finish. Both have strong springs and the followers/feedlips are nice. Mags shown...
Traded for this… thought I’d use it… I have not. It’s a used firearm but appears well cared for and fired lightly. Includes the brake, after market stock cuff, and lever wrap. It has a cheap rail mounted that I’d planned to remove that is also included.

Hard to find this nice! I was very lucky when I got this rifle! Best looking CZ stock, I have seen in a long time. Has the set trigger. Fired only a few times and has been a safe queen. Bright, perfect bore. Comes with two extra magazines and loading block. Light handling marks but overall...
