mauser 98
The Gewehr 98 (abbreviated G98, Gew 98 or M98) is a German bolt action rifle made by Mauser firing cartridges from a 5-round internal clip-loaded magazine. It was the German service rifle from 1898 to 1935, when it was replaced by the Karabiner 98k, a shorter weapon using the same basic design. The Gewehr 98 action, using a stripper clip loaded with the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge, successfully combined and improved several bolt action engineering concepts which were soon adopted by many other countries including the UK, Japan, and the US. The Gewehr 98 replaced the earlier Gewehr 1888 as the main German service rifle. It first saw combat in the Chinese Boxer Rebellion and was the main German infantry service rifle of World War I. The Gewehr 98 saw further military use by the Ottoman Empire and Nationalist Spain.
I got an essentially free Mauser 98 recently. It's already heavily sporterized unfortunately, but it presents a good opportunity for a project.
I was thinking a scout rifle, having it rebarreled for .308, put it in an ultralight stock and put a LPV scout scope on it so I could still use...

Typical early (pre 1950) post war refurb of a German rifle. Faint Waffenamts still visible on many parts. Bolt mismatch, receiver+stock+magazine+mag floor plate matched in typical Yugo fashion. Yugo crest on the receiver, PREDUZECE 44 arsenal stamp, original Mod 98 stamp as well.
$600 FTF...
8mm mauser caliber
It looks better than the pictures show.
Very smooth action, light trigger pull.

Hello!. I'm 28, single, and enjoy long walks on the beach; Well scratch the last one atleast. Haven't been on a forum in a long time and I've never been great at intros, I just kinda start posting.
I've got a humble collection, nothing too special. I've got a little bit of everything I suppose...
I would like to find a nice playing mexican telecaster or nice parts caster guitar to trade for my 98 mauser. I would even consider throwing in a new unfired 300 blk AR postol upper w 7" barrel and no bcg for the right Tele. Only looking for single coil versions though.
Leme know whatcha got.
Mauser 98 20 round reproduction trench magazine. Nice and sturdy. Married right up to an FR8 I had lying around but never actually used it. $40. would trade for a couple AK mags.
