I was hiking with my mom near Tygh Valley on Saturday and she almost stepped on this little guy. I would guess he was about 14-17 inches long.

Cool bull snake! Reminds me of an encounter I had in central OR with a big rattlesnake being eaten by a kingsnake. I have pics of it on my hard drive somewhere. Kingsnake was smaller than rattlesnake so I guess it was going to be a long term meal...

I'm no expert but that doesn't look like a bull snake.

Not a bull snake but a good guess. I am pretty sure he is a northern pacific rattlesnake. Northerns have solid stripes on the tail whereas bull snakes have more broken up markings.

Oh good I'm not loosing my mind. It has a head like a rattle snake and if you zoom in you can see the rattle.

I'm just kidding. First two taken at a zoo, last one taken at a ... well ... I guess my house is a zoo now too.

But, would love to know where you've seen predators in the wild! (So I can attempt to get a shot [with a camera])

No pics, but this one reminds me of the time I was driving into town and noticed what I thought, was a large dog sitting on the side of the road.
It just sat there, staring across the street.
Big dog, like a bull mastiff. Just sitting there.
I slowed down, in case he decided to run across the street, but as I got closer, I realized it wasn't a dog at all...

It was a bald eagle.

He'd just kiled a rabbit and was still standing on it. Probably still waiting for it to stop squirming.

We all know they're big birds, but you can't really put it into prospective until you drive past one and realize it can look right into the passenger side window of your pickup....sitting on the ground.

...really!
