So, I've read ICORE has a new(er) division called Big Six that involves competing with a wheelgun with a .40 or greater bore. Sounds super neato! Particularly considering the type of revolver shooting I've been doing in recent memory.

Which big boomer would you select for the aforementioned competition? (Despite the usual penchant for the classic or wacky, I'm heavily leaning towards the 629 with the 5" tube. The other two forty-fours could work. The big .50 is included for silliness and I'm not sure if would even be allowed.)

Thanks for voting / opining. :)

Alas, no optics!

3.1.10. Big 6 is a revolver fulfilling all of the following four criteria a-d (REV Jan 1, 2024):

(a) Having only six (6) chambers in the cylinder
(b) .40 caliber or greater
(c) Minimum power factor of 155
(d) Having no optics

Seriously now,

A Ruger GP-100 in 10mm would be perfect for this class. Shoot soft .40 S&W level loads in a heavy revolver like this, now that would be fun, fun, fun!

I am as guilty as anyone of compromising, and shortening the barrels of my big revolvers.

The 629, however, with the longer 6" or 6.5" barrel is as svelte is a revolver can be. It still carries beautifully, and shoots even better. I've done the 5" compromise and gained little.

Of what I have, a 44 Mag Redhawk, of what I want, a S&W model 57 in 41 Mag.
I remember being very tempted by the Model 57 Classic (.41 Magnum) that S&W puts out:

However, by that time I was already invested in the .44 Magnum, and I don't really know what the aforementioned offers that is different enough to add another cartridge in the supply chain. Nice wheelguns though.

I've got both but my 41 is a lowly Ruger Blackhawk , the S&W 57 is much more prettier and better suited to the ICORE game being double action and all.

Probably a 625 short (relative to magnums) cases and moon clips are a big advantage for reloads.
I really enjoy my 625 and have used it a great deal pin shooting and speed plinking cans and plastic bottles. (yes, I pick up all the trash when done!)

This model would be a great choice for this ICORE category, but personally I find Ruger revolvers a bit easier to shoot rapid fire.
