Few companies lead to such strong feelings as General Motors. But ignoring emotions to make good buying decisions is hard.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Toyota is leading in recalls. I like the Toyotas, but their prices seem really high and I've never liked the seating in the Tundra.

A friend has a Nissan pickup, can't say that I like it--my impression was that it had a lot of plastic inside and out.

watch out for the new diesels, cause you have to run "def",,, "diesel exhaust fluid" to the equation. unless thats something you dont mind dealing with.

I loved my 2006 Toyota Tacoma, it was a great truck. 4 doors, 6' bed and a 4.0L V6 that could tow 6,000 pounds. The factory tow package was prewired for a trailer brake controller, it included a pigtail that you could wire up to your brake controller and then plug in under the dash; super-easy installation. And it still got 21 mpg on the highway!

My second choice would be what my father-in-law has, an early 1990's Dodge with a Cummins diesel. That Cummins 6B block is bulletproof and long lasting with extensive use in automotive, marine and industrial applications (the mark of a good engine in my book).

I'm driving a 1995 F-150 that I got in a trade and I'm only keeping it (for now) because my wife likes it. The TTB front suspension is silly and the 13 mpg I get with the 5.0L V8 is just ridiculous.

TTB is horrid.

Just saying,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you can use your dollars to support socialists and communists or to support America and a company that respects it's share holders.

From an investment standpoint, there’s not a whole lot of difference between Ford and GM. One year charts Ford and GM are nearly identical, and both stocks are now forming base patterns at their respective 52-week highs. Maximizing shareholder value is incongruent with Socialism as well as Communism.

Just my 2 cents. I have a 2012 F150 FX4 4 door with a 6.5 foot bed. Motor is a 302 not the eco boost. I tow 20' boat with no issues also have a 20 foot car hauler that I have pulled around with no issues. Truck rides great has plenty of room for everyone and the back seat is great. All seats fold up so you have a ton of room for things if no one is back there. I was not sure if I would like the 6.5 foot bed since my old truck was a full 8 foot bed 2002 7.3 Diesel Ford 4x4 4 door. So far no issues hauling things in the bed. Do I miss my diesel? Yes but do I miss a truck that took up 2 parking spaces and had to do a 3 point turn sometimes not really.

I think the Fords are a great product and actually like the 150 a lot. Good luck in your search!

I will add that my 1 ton Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel is pretty sweet though.....

Maybe it's just me, but I think it would be hard to buy a "bad" truck nowadays.

Do some research to all the things they did to torture the Ford Ecoboost, finally ending up on the assembly line where the customer wasn't told until later they were part of an study, pretty impressive!

I also tow a 6 ton boat with our '05 1 ton 5.9 Cummins, I freakin' love this truck, ordered it new, loaded.

128,000 miles on it, my friend at Hendricks Truck and Diesel replaced the upper ball joints with something you could actually grease, they adjusted the valves and that's it. Hope to be a part of the million mile Cummins Club one day if I live long enough :s0155:

Easily do mid 20's mpg around town, into the 30's on the freeway, my best was 40 mpg long drive at 55 mph with cruise control on.

Not bad for a "6"

40 MPG?
You may want to sell your secrets. That is unbelievably good mileage. Hell I've never even seen the trucks computer fib that far.

my 93 dodge gets about 10 mpg with our fs23 superlite on the hitch, about 15 empty.

1993 W-250 diesel 4x4 the original owner paid extra for all the good stuff

4 trans coolers, dana 70 powerlock rear diff, dana 60 limited slip in the front, factory overload springs, factory 7 way plug.

it has been a hell of a pickup so far, 245,500 miles on it now

not the most comfortable rig in the woods but it has been 1 tough S.O.B.

by the way all three rigs were DODGES!!!!

1 word... Chevy! No more questions because none are needed. Fords and dodges break...ALLOT and toyota's cost 10K too much!

Least ticketed vehicle in the U.S. GM 2500 White Pickup. Or at least it was a while ago.

Or at least get a Dodge, Hey I hear they are giving away a FREE PUPPY DOG with every new truck that sold.

You will never have to walk home alone again:s0114:

While I'd love a Raptor, it's outta my price range. I did buy a 2011 Ford F150 a couple of years ago. 4 door, short bed (5.5 ft) 4x4. No Eco-Boost, but with the new 5.0 and 6 speed auto. Very nice truck. In fact it's the wife's "car". Gets about 16 in town, 20-1 ish on the highway and 14 towing. We went to check them out after spending a short time in a friends similar 2009. He's an eastern Oregon rancher/logger. Those guys work their trucks, too. We don't really haul stuff like my friend does, but when I tow the loaded car trailer, it handles that easily. The cab is very roomy and when you lift the rear seat bottom, the floor is completely flat.
We've put 40,000 on it in the last 2 years with nary a problem.

Oh, she raced it at the truck drags last summer...

16 flats at 88 MPH. It was faster than any of the new, stock Nissan,Toyota, GM, and Dodge 4x4 V8s on hand that day.

There is one thing I don't like about this truck. Only the 5.0 has it, but it has a speed limiter. 95 MPH is max without a programer or chip.

I like Dodge, always have. Grandfather had one, as of yet, I don't.
Chevy's are ok. Dad has one, nice driver, will haul a lot and he has not had much trouble with it.
Fords, well, can take them or leave them. Drove a Ford for a work truck...when it ran, it was good.
Uncle had a brand new one, drove it off the lot, the transmission fell out. Literally. Swore I would never buy.
Toyota, tad expensive for me. Had an '82 deluxe 4x4. Ran well for about 3 years after I got it. Then, endless problems. Stopped driving it because I got tired of working on it.
Other makers, have limited history of.
I really want a Rumble Bee... but then again...

I've got & love a GM with a Duramax (2011)...pulls my 11,000 lb trailer like there's nothing behind it even in the mountains.

Only 2 downsides to this truck have been 1) it does require DEF which is not a big deal but just one more thing; and 2) not all that happy with GM dealership service.
