I will honk (if I have a train horn) or, with some vehicles I used to own (like my Ducati), use the exhaust to make a loud noise in a tunnel - but only if the tunnel is empty (there is a nice tunnel between Grants Pass and the coast that doesn't get much traffic on a weekday).

I hate the sudden extremely loud noise - it raises my BP and adrenaline because I expect something catastrophic to happen, like I strayed over the lane line into another, or someone else is going to crash. It can be enough to actually cause someone to crash.
Laying on the horn in a tunnel might shock me too most likely. I watch when I'm driving. If someone were honking steady in front of me I'd be seeing what's happening and be looking to make evasive moves.. No shock there. Someone honking behind me, not my problem because it's behind me.

I get too much of the morons with PURPOSELY, extremely loud, exhaust system here in the hood.

I meant to quote @nammac but I hit post before I should have and now I can't add the quote back in :s0108:

Middle of a running bang bang party and you grab a new mag and all of a sudden it's like you are plugging in a USB cable

1) I have a hearing deficit. Part of that is that it is often hard for me to determine where a noise is coming from. This would be even more difficult in a tunnel with the echos.

2) I've been hit from behind at least a dozen times (by idiots following too closely and/or not paying attention). So sounds from behind me are indeed a problem.

The price of vehicle tags in Seattle.
Indeed so. Living here, I never thought tabs would ever be $1000 or more in my lifetime, but it burns me up how they base it on the value like it has any bearing on anything other than to be a money grab. Voters are so easily swindled into these tax measures, then complain when they feel the pain of the BS they voted for, and we literally pay for it.
The RTA is potentially the biggest ongoing scam here in WA, where the RTA is in force.
Cheaper to get the ticket for expired tabs multiple times lol.
For years, WA has used slime ball tactics to pass bulls**t laws like they did for this RTA malarkey.

In 2010, when I still lived in Everett, WA, I bought a truck in Oregon. I had to pay the tax/etc. in WA.

In 2011 I moved to Oregon. I could have saved about $1000 if I had waited one year. :s0054:

Damn. That sucks. I can't get away from it currently unfortunately. One of my cars I had expired tabs on it which I didn't realize at the time, driving on the way to lunch on a work day, going through Normandy Park on 1st Ave.and got a $237 ticket lol.

Brother, you might want to speed up a little bit!!! 🤣
The last time I was hit, I was at a standstill, stuck in traffic on Hwy 26, between the zoo and the tunnel. I could not go forward or sideways. I was stopped for about 5 seconds with my foot on the brake - so the guy who hit me was not paying attention to traffic. The service van hit me from behind - hard. I think he was probably looking at his phone.

IIRC. everytime I have been hit from behind, I was stopped. Most times it wasn't hard, but several times it was. One time, in Seattle, the guy hit me hard enough to knock my hat off, but then pulled over and exited the freeway. I got his license # before he got away, but the WSP refused to do anything because he was from Canada.

Heck, a mile walk through my neighborhood and I counted 20+ vehicles with expired tags, some more than 3 years old. I was of the impression expired tags weren't enforced anymore…

It seems these smaller PDs like to take a more "aggressive" stance on small stuff vs larger agencies, with the exception of WSP, at least in my experience. I'm not surprised one bit with the amount of expired tabs here lol.

For while, during the pandemic, when it was harder to get into the DMV, yes, there was a directive to leave people with expired tags alone - for a while. But that has mostly gone. I got a ticket a few months back because the tags on my daily driver expired in 2022.

Downtown Portland had a spate of expired tags, missing plates and fake plates, plus people parking past the expiration of the meter. So this year they got stricter on it. Also, RVs/cars parked for a long time on streets where people were living in their cars/RVs.

IIRC, Washington voters did NOT pass the tabs law/price increase. As in specifically voted AGAINST it, winning a majority.

Then it was put into place anyway somehow.

Then Washington voters continued to vote FOR the folks who did that. Or somesuch.

Karens. This one won instant fame last night at a Phillies game. She was upset that the dad beat her to the foul home run ball and gave it to his son for his birthday. She DEMANDED the ball back, then got booed out of the stadium by the fans. The boy ended up getting a bag of stuff from the stadium people, plus got to meet Phillies player Harrison Bader who gave him a bat. The search is on to unveil Karen's real identity, but the first person identified swears it isn't her and that she is a Red Sox fan, not a Phillies fan. There was a similar situation where a grown man snagged a hat from a tennis star at the U.S. Open who intended for a little kid to have it. Social media discovered he was a rich guy and CEO of a company. His initial response was that the kid should have been quicker, but he soon changed his tune, and folks are making life rough for him and his company.

People who drive without a license/or suspened or insurance, plus outdated tags.

I have and pay for all of the above.

I wish cops would put those who won't/don't promptly into a mandated minimum of a year in county or 25 bamboo lashes on their bear butts, lashed out by an expert..,.

I totally agree with you, but not everyone has a pet bear whose butt could be lashed... :D
