Contract work is a feast or famine affair. It is hard to find steady work that lets you also have a life. If you turn away too much word gets out and people just stop asking, whereas if you take too much on you run out of time to get it all done. Then you also have to grapple with any industry downturns and survive with little or noting to get to the next contract. I hated contract work because it was such a roller coaster.I have a friend that was a graphic arts major and does freelance work. She does all contract work and works when it fits her schedule or she feels like it.
Kinda envy that freedom but also like having a set schedule at work…
True, I dealt with that in construction. Lots of effort to get bids and then you may or may not have a full month ahead of you.Contract work is a feast or famine affair.
